Position Overview:

The DSBN Maintenance Division is seeking qualified, organized, and resourceful trade candidates to complete demand and programmed work orders. Millwork installations and finishing repairs are primary functions of this role.

The Carpenter position is assigned work orders through the DSBN Maintenance Division computerized maintenance management system eBASE. Work orders are received electronically through a board-provided laptop and investigated on-site by troubleshooting components, and utilizing the resources and knowledge provided by the Maintenance Department Lead Hands, Supervisors and on-site Custodians.

Duties:

• Perform demand, predictive, and preventative maintenance on architectural systems as assigned.
• Take responsibility for all work performed – ensuring compliance with all standard construction and maintenance practices – including building codes, regulations, and standards.
• Ensure administrative tasks, policies, and procedures are properly performed and followed according to Board, Supervisor and/or Manager direction.
• Abide by terms of Collective Agreement.
• The primary duties described above shall not be considered the totality of responsibilities and tasks that may be assigned.

Qualifications:

• Valid 403A – General Carpenter Certificate of Qualification.
  Valid Ontario driver's license.

Skills and Requirements:

• Knowledge and experience in servicing and troubleshooting a wide variety of architectural finishes and systems.
• Demonstrable experience with customer service and personable communication.
  Attention to detail and the capacity to produce organized, clear paperwork is integral.
