Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

This role is focused on
underground civil construction
, including water, sewer, storm, and pipework projects across public and private sector work. We're looking for someone who understands how underground work is actually built and can price it accurately.
About the Role
As a Senior Civil Construction Estimator, you'll lead the estimating and tendering process for underground civil projects. You'll work closely with project managers, superintendents, suppliers, and subcontractors to develop realistic, competitive bids that reflect field conditions and constructability — not just drawings.
This is a senior role suited to someone with strong underground experience who's comfortable owning estimates from start to finish.
What You'll Be Doing
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for underground utilities and pipework
- Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents
- Complete quantity take-offs and pricing for labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors
- Develop competitive, well-documented bid submissions
- Collaborate with field and project teams to validate construction methods and productivity
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required
- Support post-bid reviews and handover to operations
What We're Looking For
- 5–7+ years of experience in civil construction estimating
- Strong background in underground utilities and pipework
- Solid understanding of excavation, trenching, and underground sequencing
- Ability to interpret civil drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Comfortable managing multiple bids and deadlines
A degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is an asset, but equivalent industry experience is absolutely considered.
