Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Junior Home Inspector to join our team for the peak inspection season, approximately April through the end of September. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in construction, construction material sales, insurance, or other building-related fields, as well as those with strong mechanical aptitude looking to build a long-term career in the home inspection industry.

This position includes hands-on training and mentorship. The goal of this role is for the trainee to develop the skills, efficiency, and professionalism required to perform at a high level and, where mutually appropriate, transition into a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with residential home inspections, including structure, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and roofing
  • Collect and document inspection data using standardized checklists and inspection software
  • Identify defects, safety concerns, and maintenance issues
  • Prepare clear, professional inspection reports with photographs and recommendations
  • Follow all safety protocols and industry standards
  • Communicate inspection findings clearly with clients, real estate agents, and team members
  • Maintain knowledge of building systems, codes, and industry best practices
  • Complete inspections and reporting within fixed and often tight timeframes while maintaining accuracy, thoroughness, and professionalism

Communication & Technical Requirements

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience communicating with clients in a professional or business setting
  • The ability to explain technical findings in clear, plain language
  • Strong written skills for producing accurate, easy-to-understand report comments
  • Reasonable typing skills to efficiently complete inspection reports and documentation
  • Basic experience using AI tools or modern productivity software as an asset
  • A friendly, outgoing personality, with confidence interacting directly with clients and industry professionals

Qualifications

  • Background in construction, trades, construction material sales, insurance, or building-related industries is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work efficiently in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment
  • Comfortable using mobile apps, tablets, and inspection software
  • Physically able to access roofs, attics, crawlspaces, and other inspection areas
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Compensation

  • $30–$45 per hour, depending on experience, performance, and role progression
  • Mileage reimbursement provided for travel between inspection locations
  • Wage growth can be rapid for individuals who demonstrate strong technical ability, high-quality reporting, and professional client communication
  • Compensation is reviewed periodically based on role development and performance
