Track Supervisor

The Track Supervisor is responsible for leading the operations of the territory that involves track inspection and repairs. The role oversees staff, replacing rails, ties, switches, and ballasts. In addition, the position is responsible for overseeing work projects and working with contractors.
The Track Supervisor demonstrates and adheres to the company values of safety, honesty, ownership, respect and teamwork to ensure successful partnerships with customers and employees that result in OmniTRAX's continued success.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and lead activities of track gangs, track employees, and hi-rail operations.
Handle engineering operations which include compliance with safe work procedures, Transport Canada guidelines, and OmniTRAX standards, policies, and regulations
Lead people with clear direction and goals while providing coaching and guidance to employees through regular performance monitoring.
Apply collective agreement and company polices.
Oversee budgets and workforce productivity within OmniTRAX policies.
Ensure clear communication of track condition and daily production information to Assistant General Manager and Division Engineer.
Ensure the safety of the track through regulatory inspections and input findings into Ensco to monitor track condition.
Follow up on reported track issues to ensure they maintain compliance with standards.
Perform safety audits on unionized workforce and conduct safety engagement.
Plan, schedule, and perform track repairs and maintenance.
Work with Transportation and Mechanical depts when required in emergent situations.
OTHER DUTIES
Report to work as called on a 24-hour schedule
Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries
Wear required protective equipment such as: hard hats, hearing protection, safety-toe boots or safety glasses
Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek, overtime and various shift work
Perform other duties and projects as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervisory duties for unionized workforce.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
High School Diploma/GED
3+ years of job-related work experience
Understand interdepartmental railroad operations
Read and interpret engineering drawings, right-of-way maps and construction plans
Write legibly to complete reports and other company documents
Thorough understanding of Track Safety Standards and document items of non-compliance
Knowledge of contracts and contract management
Read and comprehend published rules, procedure and manuals, government regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, memos, and other work-related information
Excellent oral and written communications skills; effectively communicate with all levels of employees and business associates in a clear, concise, and professional manner
Advanced problem solving and troubleshooting skills to react to emergencies and unplanned events in a calm, efficient, and effective manner
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office; learn and use track inspection data management software
Professional integrity and accountability
Work in fast-paced, collaborative environment
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Valid Driver's License
Pass medical certification, drivers abstract, pass Drug & Alcohol testing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Previous experience in Rail Transportation, Supply Chain Logistics, Manufacturing and/or Oil & Gas industries
CDL Class 3

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The role will be partially performed in an office environment and outdoors in various types of weather and environmental conditions with irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The role requires regular travel across the territory. The position requires responding to unexpected and emergency situations, and being able to lift up to 70 lbs
