Procor Limited manages Canada’s largest private tank car lease fleet and operates an extensive repair network across the country. Our fleet has grown to include more than 30,5000 special purpose tank and freight cars. Procor also operates 28 repair locations servicing the petroleum, petrochemicals, plastics, chemicals, fertilizers and food markets.
**The Supervisor - Rail Car Repair oversees daily repair, inspection, and maintenance operations across assigned sites or repair areas (including MRU, mobile, and on-site operations). This role is responsible for planning, scheduling, and leading multiple teams of technicians and Lead Hands to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of railcar maintenance programs. The Supervisor is the primary liaison between Field Operations Management and site personnel, ensuring alignment with corporate goals, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Leadership & Oversight**:
- Lead and manage daily operations for assigned railcar repair sites or departments.
- Supervise and mentor Lead Hands, ensuring effective labor, materials, and workflow coordination.
- Set clear performance expectations aligned with departmental KPIs (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost).
- Support strategic objectives by coordinating with the Repair/Area Manager and Field Lead Support.
- Conduct daily production and safety meetings, ensuring information flows between shifts and management.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, and team morale, addressing performance issues promptly and professionally.
**Planning & Coordination**:
- Develop and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on customer demand, labor capacity, and available materials.
- Coordinate with Scheduling, Inventory Control, and Quality departments to remove barriers to production.
- Maintain oversight of site performance metrics (SQDC boards, LEANKIT, LINKNET, SharePoint updates).
- Review and validate the daily matrix, bad order list, and repair progress for accuracy.
- Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available and maintained to meet production goals.
**Safety & Compliance**:
- Lead by example in maintaining a zero-incident safety culture.
- Conduct and document safety audits, toolbox talks, and corrective action follow-ups.
- Ensure full compliance with EHS policies, AAR, Transport Canada, and customer standards.
- Actively enforce PPE, lockout/tagout, confined space, and other critical safety procedures.
- Report incidents, near misses, and hazards promptly and lead root-cause investigations.
**Quality Assurance**:
- Oversee all inspection and repair work to meet AAR, company, and customer quality standards.
- Review completed work orders and inspection documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Partner with Quality and Engineering departments to address recurring defects or process deviations.
- Drive continuous improvement through LEAN and 5S initiatives.
- Support internal and external audits, providing documentation and corrective action tracking.
**Training & Development**:
- Coach and develop Lead Hands and technicians, identifying training needs and skill gaps.
- Facilitate cross-training to build workforce flexibility and operational resilience.
- Support new employee onboarding, ensuring safe and effective integration into operations.
- Promote a continuous improvement mindset and recognize contributions to team success.
**Administrative & Reporting**:
- Maintain accurate SharePoint, Rail Link, LMS, and LEANKIT records.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports for the Manager and Director levels.
- Track overtime usage, production delays, and cost impacts, implementing corrective measures when necessary.
- Participate in operational meetings and provide data-driven input for decision-making.
- Manage scheduling, vacation approvals, and shift coverage across assigned operations.

- Provide timely reporting and proactive problem resolution.
**Career Path**:
Successful performance as a Supervisor may lead to advancement into roles such as Operations Manager, Area Manager, or Regional Manager within the organization.
