Your opportunity:

The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology (LMP) occupies a unique position at the interface between basic biomedical science and clinical practice. We are an assembly of over 400 investigators, scientists, and clinicians, who educate and mentor trainees pursuing undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate medical studies, engaged in investigating disease mechanisms and patterns and translating new knowledge and discoveries into improved health outcomes for patients and populations.

Situated in LMP, the Temerty Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Education in Medicine (T-CAIREM), an interdepartmental centre, serves as a focal point for collaboration between computer scientists, healthcare providers, trainees, medical basic science researchers and industry to advance health through machine learning. The mission of the Centre is to advance research, education, knowledge dissemination and digital infrastructure in the field of AI in medicine. 

T-CAIREM aims to be a global leader in facilitating high quality, accessible educational offerings and research collaborations at the intersection of AI and health. T-CAIREM seeks to build capacity to reflect the emerging role of AI in healthcare professions and to build strategic partnerships to implement new solutions that can transform practice.

As the Research Program Coordinator, T-CAIREM, you will provide grant and funding administration support for initiatives aligned with T-CAIREM's program for advancing research in AI across the medical and health sciences. In this role, you will coordinate grant and funding application processes, prepare and review submission materials, support meetings and program activities, and liaise with faculty and partners to ensure applications progress through required internal review and approval stages. Your work will directly support high-quality research submissions and the effective delivery of program activities within T-CAIREM.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing grant and research funding administration support by coordinating funding application processes, including gathering required documentation, preparing submission materials, and ensuring applications progress through internal review and sign-off stages
  • Editing, proofreading, and fact-checking funding and grant application content to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with sponsor guidelines and requirements
  • Tracking and maintaining funding and research records by monitoring the status of funding applications and submissions, updating databases, generating reports, and maintaining accurate documentation
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., faculty, collaborators, sponsors, agencies) to share information related to funding opportunities, application procedures, deadlines, reporting requirements, and program updates
  • Supporting meetings and events related to research and program activities by coordinating schedules, agendas, materials, and logistics (e.g., room bookings, equipment, catering), and tracking follow-up or action items

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience providing grant administration support, including coordinating grant or funding application processes
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and submitting grant or funding application materials, in accordance with sponsor or institutional requirements
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and editing grant or funding application content
  • Experience coordinating meetings, including scheduling, preparing agendas and materials, taking minutes, and tracking follow-up actions
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office 365 applications, including SharePoint and Teams, content management systems (Drupal) and videoconference platforms (Zoom)
  • Strong knowledge of grant management software applications (e.g. SurveyMonkey Apply)
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with faculty and other stakeholders in support of grant and funding application processes
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when working with funding documentation
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated tact and discretion with ability to maintain confidentiality
