The Opportunity

This is a foundational role
for a hands-on, strategic finance professional. In the first 6–12 months, the Financial Controller will personally own accounting, controls, and reporting. Over time, this role will evolve into
Head of Finance / Director of Finance
, including building and leading the finance team.

You will work closely with the CEO and leadership team and play a central role in establishing financial discipline, transparency, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the full accounting cycle including bookkeeping, monthly close, and financial statements.
  • Implement financial controls, policies, and approval workflows.
  • Manage cash, treasury, and liquidity planning.
  • Build cost accounting and inventory controls for a hardware business.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Prepare management, board, and investor reporting.
  • Manage relationships with external accountants, tax advisors, and auditors.
  • Select, implement, and manage finance systems and ERP as the company scales.
  • Hire and lead the finance team as growth requires.

Qualifications

Required

  • 4+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance
  • Strong hands-on experience with financial reporting and month-end close
  • Experience with cost accounting and inventory management.
  • Advanced Excel skills; strong experience with QuickBooks
  • Experience working in a start-up, scale-up, or small team environment.
  • Comfortable building systems and processes from scratch

Preferred

  • CPA designation
  • Experience in hardware, manufacturing, or inventory-driven businesses.
  • Experience with SR&ED or government R&D grants.

Work Environment

  • On-site presence required initially due to hardware and operational complexity.
  • Hybrid work as systems and team mature.
