About the Game Project:

Remnants of R'lyeh
is a Lovecraftian underwater horror FPS blending steampunk and dark fantasy.

Set in a surreal 1920s-inspired world of ancient ruins and deep-sea dread, it focuses on atmosphere, exploration, and psychological tension, an indie experience crafted with passion and artistic vision.

We're looking for a talented and passionate
Game Level Designer
to help us shape haunting environments that capture the mystery and terror of the abyss.

Studio: Darktree Interactive (Canada)

Type: Remote / Contract-Based (Flexible Schedule)

Pay: Per Game Level (to be discussed)

Responsibilities:

  • Build grey box layouts for indoor outdoor horror game levels (in Unity).
  • Collaborate on environment pacing, game loop, gameplay flow, and exploration routes.
  • Assemble scenes using existing modular assets / prefabs.
  • Lighting, fog, and mood setups to match the cosmic horror tone.
  • Work closely with the director for feedback and iteration.

Requirements:

  • Education background is not that important. What matters is your talent, creativity, and love for building worlds. Students are welcome to apply for this position if you want hands-on experience
  • Proven experience with Unity engine in actual game projects (professional or indie).
  • A portfolio showcasing your level design or environment work.
  • Genuine passion for survival horror, cosmic horror, and dark fantasy.
  • Reliable and capable of delivering tasks within agreed deadlines.
