About the Opportunity

MERE HR & Consulting is partnering with a
well-established and growing freight forwarding organization
to recruit a
Director of Warehousing & Distribution
. Our client are a recognized player within the supply chain and logistics sector, operating complex warehouse and distribution operations that support domestic and international freight movements. This is a senior leadership role for a hands-on, operationally strong warehousing professional who thrives in fast-paced, high-volume environments and is comfortable leading teams on-site.

The Role

The Director of Warehousing & Distribution will be responsible for the
overall leadership, performance, and continuous improvement
of warehouse and distribution centre operations. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep operational expertise, strong people leadership skills, and a proven ability to drive efficiency, safety, and service excellence across multiple functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for warehouse and distribution centre operations
  • Oversee day-to-day warehousing activities including receiving, storage, order fulfillment, inventory control, and outbound distribution
  • Lead, coach, and develop warehouse management teams and frontline leaders
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, cost control, service levels, and safety
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices
  • Collaborate closely with transportation, freight forwarding, customer service, and commercial teams
  • Manage budgets, KPIs, labour planning, and operational performance metrics
  • Support system optimization and process standardization across warehouse operations
  • Act as a key contributor to senior leadership discussions and operational planning

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive leadership experience
    managing warehouses and/or distribution centres
  • Strong background in
    supply chain, logistics, or freight forwarding environments
  • Proven experience leading large, diverse teams in union and/or non-union settings
  • Demonstrated success in driving operational efficiencies and continuous improvement
  • Strong understanding of warehouse systems, inventory management, and performance metrics
  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills
  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field is preferred
