with Agile development, DevOps, Open Source, Software as a Service (SaaS) and modern tools and processes. You will have an opportunity to make a real difference by working on some impactful and meaningful projects.
We are seeking a skilled Data Modeler to design and implement a Medallion data model in Snowflake, a cloud-based data warehousing platform. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in structuring and organizing our data to support efficient analytics and reporting. The candidate will be working closely with business stakeholders and collaborating with architects to make decisions that drive business growth. You will design, develop, and maintain large-scale data warehouses and data models on Snowflake, ensuring data quality, security, and scalability. This role will focus on the application-level design and implementation, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems, and providing technical leadership to the development team.
Our applications are used by RBC staff and clients making your contributions highly impactful and visible, directly contributing to the success of RBC. We deliver digitally enabled applications that are both internal and internet facing. We build cloud data lakehouse, stable web, and back-end applications which are resilient, scalable and high performance that avoids failure and focused on delivering best client experience. We continuously update our tech skills and upgrade our platforms to match industry standards.
What will you do?
- Technical Leadership: collaborate with the architects and business users to understand the requirements, to develop and implement data models that align with business objectives.
- Business Stakeholder Management: build strong relationships, communicate technical concepts and solutions to business stakeholders, providing solutions that meet their requirements.
- Data Engineering: understand modern data stack, data management frameworks. And design, develop, and maintain large-scale data warehouses and pipelines on Snowflake, ensuring efficient use of resources and cost-effectiveness.
- Design and Development: Create a comprehensive Medallion data model architecture, including bronze, silver, and gold layers, to ensure data quality and consistency.
- Data Modeling: Develop logical and physical data models, defining tables, relationships, and data transformations.
- Snowflake Implementation: Utilize Snowflake's features to build and optimize the data model, ensuring scalability and performance.
- Data Integration: Collaborate with data engineers to integrate various data sources into the Medallion model.
- Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of the data model design, including data dictionaries and process flows. Quality Assurance: Implement data validation and testing procedures to guarantee data accuracy. Ability to determine alternative methods and processes in order to best support RBC Insurance Application and Data needs.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- Strong understanding of business operations and data-driven decision-making
- 5+ years of experience in data management, with a focus on Snowflake Cloud Data Lakehouse Platform.
- Experience: Proven experience in data modeling, preferably with Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, data modeling tools, and data warehousing concepts.
- Medallion Architecture: Understanding of the Medallion data model and its implementation.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex data requirements and design efficient solutions.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop creative solutions
- Experience on multiple projects with multiple interfaces and/or third parties. Successfully and simultaneously managed multiple projects with emphasis on High Impact, High Business Risk, Uncertain Business Requirements and New Technology
Nice to Have
- Certifications: Snowflake certifications (e.g. Snowflake Certified Data Engineer)
- Knowledge of data engineering tools, familiar with cloud-based data platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience with machine learning, artificial intelligence, or other emerging technologies
- Adaptability, Critical thinking and growing mindset
- Management and collaboration skills, Verbal and written communication skills
