We are looking for an experienced Procurement Professional with experience in domestic and offshore purchasing, with an aggressive hands-on approach and attitude, focused on sourcing new vendors and driving down costs with the existing vendor base. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Drive constant review, on a planned and systematic basis (but also as needs are identified), review of alternative suppliers to improve quality, performance, and pricing. Both domestic and offshore. This individual needs to be an expert in the industry on our industry's supply chain.
• Play a significant role in the product development process: learning the product and the objectives of each program, sourcing components, sourcing companies to produce entire product lines, qualification of potential licensing partners, contractual and pricing negotiations
• Be highly knowledgeable of all related business processes, particularly all production processes, distribution, engineering and product development. Build and utilize a high level of knowledge on costs: product and component costs, manufacturing process costs (so as to understand the potential benefits of outsourcing), logistics costs, costs of quality problems and deficiencies.
• Drive outsourcing initiatives, through both internal investigations of feasibility as well as the external outsourcing possibilities. This should be looked at on the basis of individual components, where everything we make is ultimately subjected to a Make vs. Buy analysis
• Negotiation and price reduction Is a significant function and is a key criterion for evaluation of buyer performance, and a key area of expertise in the department. Cost Saving Initiatives tracked, and measured cost savings and cost avoidance, to targets, measured on a monthly basis.
• Work closely with production and engineering to manage the quality of supplier components and materials, by leading the effort to improve supplier compliance with our standards, ensure that suppliers are bearing the costs of quality (including charge-backs for deficient components and material), and ensure that suppliers are actively addressing our needs and concerns with respect to quality. Minimize our costs and need to inspect incoming material and components by working with high-performance suppliers.
• Develop a database of suppliers in all component and process categories. This would be on two levels: existing suppliers, and potential suppliers. This database can be used in any sourcing undertaking.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects and cost avoidance activities to various timelines while maintaining positive results focused approach and mentality within the sourcing team.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 4+ years purchasing/ sourcing experience
• Off shore sourcing experience including negotiations of pricing and terms related to sourcing of commodities
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Excellent analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent Negotiation skills, along with experience is establishing Long Term Contracts
• CPP Designation
• Ability to read and interpret drawings
