About the Position:

The Senior Mortgage Underwriter is responsible for making sound lending recommendations, often under constrained timelines, without compromising credit risk and profitability. You will be required to follow corporate policies and procedures in order to work through files and rationalize the recommendations or decisions made.

This position will be focused on Near Prime/Alt/B Lending Underwriting - previous experience working for B Lenders is required. Position is open to Hybrid or Remote work and will depend on the individuals experience.

The Senior Underwriter is a strong team contributor who is able to assist other team members with day to day activities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Review and verify the accuracy of required documentation using due diligence and in compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines. You will have to document clear and complete notes within the mortgage underwriting system.
• You will make sound lending recommendations, often under constrained timelines, without compromising credit risk and profitability.
• You will be required to follow corporate policies and procedures in order to work through files and rationalize the recommendations or decisions made.
• We expect you to provide efficient turnaround times while maintaining good relationships within your THINK Financial team as well as with the True North Mortgage agents.
• Working together as a team with a sense of urgency.
• Communication by email, Slack and Phone as required for quick resolution.
• Work towards a 90% internal audit pass rating.
• Audit focused underwriting. This includes keeping up to date with guidelines, research, discussion with Pod Team and escalating files as needed.
• Assist in developing, refining, and implementing program policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and alignment with organizational goals.
• Serve as a team leader by modeling best practices, supporting collaboration, and fostering the professional growth of team members.
• Provide strategic guidance and insight by identifying opportunities for improvement, recommending changes, and contributing innovative ideas that drive the continued development and success of the program.
• Properly follow established procedures for submitting, documenting, and processing exception approvals to ensure compliance and accountability.
• Assistance on audit review items as required.
