Engineer Geotechnical in Training

Job Summary
We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer in Training to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, the Geotechnical EIT will assume responsibility for all short-term geotechnical-related tasks at the mine site.
This position follows a 14 on / 14 off rotational schedule at the mine site in Geraldton, ON.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop the geotechnical planning schedule in accordance with the short-term mining plan.
- Provide all ground-support plans and geotechnical information to the planners and the operating groups in an accurate and timely manner.
- Complete frequent open pit and infrastructure inspections to monitor the geotechnical requirements of various areas, to respond to requests for geotechnical inspections or ground occurrence reports, and to conduct quality control assessments of ground support installations.
- Review all relevant geotechnical data daily.
- Review 3-month plans and convert these schedules into a self-managed work plan for the same period.
- Determine the mining schedule where instrumentation is needed and ensure that instrumentation stock is maintained and managed accordingly.
- Design, in conjunction with the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, all necessary probe hole drilling.
- Respond to all geotechnical reports by liaising with the person submitting the report (and/or their supervisor), viewing the area, deciding on a plan of action and issuing a formal written response.
- Maintain working databases of all job aspects, such as voids, probe holes, geotechnical inspections, rock falls, etc.
- Promote safe working practices and regularly complete FLRA and non-routine hazardous tasks.
Required Experience And Skill Set
- 2+ years of work experience in the mining industry.
- Experience with relevant geotechnical software.
- Formal professional designation in engineering or geoscience, or eligible to apply for professional license.

Certifications
- Valid driver's license.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Geological/Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
