About the role

Lockheed Martin Canada Inc. (Lockheed Martin) is Canada's most successful Combat System Integrator (CSI) specializing in large, sophisticated integration projects. We take advantage of advanced engineering practices and modern technologies to design, develop and integrate combat systems for naval warships. We are seeking motivated and high performing leader with specific skills to become part of Halifax Class Combat System Integration In-Service Support (CSI ISS) Program.

The Systems Engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead will lead a diverse team that sustains the Halifax Class Combat Management System (CMS) 330. They will be called to work at CFB Stadacona in Halifax once the necessary security clearances have been granted by the government of Canada. They will report to the program's Technical Director and will play a critical role in the success of the program's objectives.

The candidate will participate in leadership and engineering activities including but not limited to:

  • Provide technical leadership to a large team across multiple geographical sites. Including activities such as:
  • Managing work assignment
  • Monitoring staffing bandwidth
  • Identifying and actioning staffing gaps
  • Leading Systems Engineering staff meetings.
  • Responsible for Technical Performance, Cost and Schedule of the team.
  • Review of technical deliverables
  • Perform technical oversight of sub-contractors
  • Provide guidance to the technical and programmatic teams
  • Ensure that the combat systems integration and installations are closely aligned the customers strategic priorities and timelines
  • Oversee the Design, Integration, Development, Installation, Testing and Evaluation of the CMS 330 and it's combat system integration activities.
  • Lead and motivate cross-functional teams
  • Stakeholder management including frequent customer interaction

What you bring to the role

  • Possess bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Electrical, Mechanical or related discipline with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related master's degree.
  • Proven experience with Software, Systems, Hardware or Maintenance engineering life-cycle.

  • Ability to acquire NATO Secret Security clearance

Additional skills desired for the role

  • Familiarity with IBM Rational Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS), Redmine, or Windchill
  • Knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical design processes and artifacts (i.e Single Line Diagrams, Cable Run Sheets, Assembly Drawings, Installation Control Drawings, etc.).
  • Experience with the Combat Management System (CMS) 330.
  • Experience with Risk Management.
  • Experience with Shipyard environments.
  • Experience with Agile methodology.
  • Experience in the Navy or Defence domains.
  • Experience with Sensors, Weapons or Ship integration.
  • Experience with export controls, and sub-contract management.
  • Experience with Change Management, Requirements Management, Test and Trials (T&T), Security, Safety, Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) or Environmental Qualification.
  • Professional Engineering License or ability to obtain one.
