This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to continue their career path in a dynamic team-based working environment.Position: MECHANICAL ENGINEERING LEADLocation: Halifax, Nova ScotiaResponsibilities: The Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:Team leader and ability to lead young professionals with a passion for mentoring and developing the next generation of engineers.Develop a high-performing team and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and technical excellence.Prepare deliverables to facilitate project planning and budget controlPrepare the concept design and complete load calculations, schematics, equipment selection and system concept report.Oversee a talented team of mechanical professionals, guiding and development and ensuring top-tier project execution.Review and execute mechanical design and layoutReview mechanical technical deliverables (specifications, datasheets, drawings, etc.).Attend project meetings to coordinate with other disciplines and project consultantsInspecting project sites in order to monitor progress and ensure compliance with all safety and government regulations.Coordinate with other disciplines internally as well as externally with consultants and architectsCompleting technical reviews and providing recommendations regarding designs and reportsPromote and maintain the application of ethical and professional practices in the execution of mechanical engineering workCompleting audits of the work that is produced to ensure design is completed with quality and assuranceCommunicate and liaise effectively with colleagues and architects, subcontractors, contracting engineers, consultants, co-workers and clientsProvide mentorship to junior staff membersAssist in business development and maintaining existing client relationships.Qualifications, Experience and Education:Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant disciplineProfessional Engineering Designation (P. Eng.) in the Province of Nova ScotiaMinimum 10 + years of industry trade experienceEngineering and/or design coordination experience in the consulting industry would be beneficialExperience in multi-disciplined project coordination and managementRequired Skills:Require comprehensive knowledge of current engineering principles and practices, complemented with a strong knowledge of project management concepts and practicesExperience conducting site visits would be an asset.Able to communicate ideas and recommendations to non-engineer team members in a clear mannerKnowledge of Canadian Engineering standardsAble to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization, including executivesExcellent time management and project management skillsHigh level of sound and independent judgment and reasoningAbility to interpret and implement company policies and proceduresWorking knowledge of REVIT would be an assetJob Specific Competencies:Analytical Thinking – Analyzing and synthesizing complex situations and information to understand issues identify options and support sound decision-makingAttention to Detail – Working in a conscientious, consistent and thorough mannerClient Focus – Provides added value through service excellence to internal and/or external clientsContinuous Learning – Identifying and addressing learning and developmental needs to enhance own performanceDecision Making – Making decisions involving varied levels of risk and ambiguityInformation Gathering and Processing – Locating and collecting data from appropriate sources and analyzing it to prepare meaningful and concise reports that summarize the informationProblem Solving – Identifying problems and the solutions to themResilience – Remains energized and focused in the face of ambiguity, change or strenuous demandsResults Management – Organizes time, work and resources to accomplish objectives in the most effect and efficient wayTeamwork – Working collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goalsLeader & Mentor – Inspire other professionals to grow and build the engineering team.
