As a CNC Laser Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining a laser cutting machine to produce high-quality metal parts or components according to specifications. In this role, you will be involved in setting up the machine, selecting the accurate program, and monitoring the process to ensure that the safety standards and specifications of the product are met.

Location: 100 Savage Drive, Cambridge, ON

Dedicated Day Shift: 6:00am – 2:30pm, Monday – Friday

Job Duties

  • Set up and prepare the laser cutting machine for production runs, including loading materials, and selecting the correct program
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime
  • Inspect finished parts for accuracy using precision measuring tools and equipment
  • Conduct quality checks throughout the production process to identify and address any defects or discrepancies to production quality
  • Follow safety protocols and wear prescribed personal protective (PPE) equipment to prevent injuries
  • Utilize hand, power, and pneumatic tools to complete run
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on the laser cutting machine, and troubleshoot technical issues to prevent breakdowns
  • Operate lifting devices, such as cranes (overhead, and/or jib) or vacuum lifts, to move material

Skills & Experience

  • Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands and be able to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events
  • Required to read and interpret laser programs and work instructions
  • Laser operator tasks require collaboration with coworkers; effective communication and problem solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions when working on projects that involve multiple team members
  • Physical requirements include standing, climbing, and kneeling

Qualifications

  • Previous related experience operating and maintaining metalworking machinery.
  • Proven mechanical abilities; able to understand and interpret engineering documents.
  • Ability to read and understand tape measures and other measuring tools.
