Calgary, Alberta, Canada Canam Full time
Job Description

Your life at Canam

If you're looking for a role where finance meets the field, this is it. As Project Controller, you own the financial accuracy and cost-tracking across all our Canam Installation Services (CIS) projects, from Hambro and Murox to major Structural Steel builds. You bridge the gap between project management and finance, guaranteeing that day-to-day spending on-site is immediately translated into trusted data that drives project success.

Think of yourself as the engine for precision and transparency in CIS execution. You aren't just looking at spreadsheets; you are deeply involved in field-driven installation costs, tracking everything from equipment rentals and labor crews to tools and trucking. You'll manage the entire PO lifecycle and commitment process, ensuring we know exactly what we've spent and what's still to come. While the project managers "own" the final numbers, you are their right hand—providing the essential forecast support and construction accounting expertise they need to stay on target.

Your role is critical because you transform the constant flow of site activity into clear, real-time financial insights. Because you speak the language of construction terminology, you can turn raw data into a vital decision-making tool for our leadership. We're looking for someone with an Accounting or Finance background who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty with construction exposure.

Ultimately, you ensure we operate with a disciplined financial pulse, but it's the people that make the difference. At Canam, you'll find that your team provides the most satisfaction, as we are a strong bond of growth and endless possibilities

The Canam benefits

  • Profit-sharing plan based on company performance because we like to share our success
  • Group insurance from your first day with employer contributions (life, disability, drug, dental and travel) for peace of mind
  • Defined contribution pension plan because we all retire one day
  • Employee assistance program for when you need it
  • Access to a free telemedicine service because no one likes waiting at the clinic
  • Career movement because we all grow differently
  • Because your well-being is important to us, Canam offers an annual contribution to encourage you to take care of yourself

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, management
  • 3-5 Years in construction project controls, cost control, project accounting, financial coordination on live construction projects
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Capacity to manage cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate project control implementation
