Transportation / Fleet Operations Manager
Canada | Permanent, Full-time | 40 hours/week
We are seeking an experienced Transportation / Fleet Operations Manager to lead and oversee daily operations within a freight and trucking environment. This role is responsible for operational performance, compliance, people leadership, and financial oversight in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and evaluate daily transportation and fleet operations
- Monitor departmental performance and prepare reports for senior management
- Recruit, train, supervise, and lead a team of 20+ staff
- Oversee scheduling, dispatching, and tracking of vehicles and goods
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards
- Manage budgets, revenue monitoring, and cost control
- Establish and implement transportation and storage policies
- Negotiate service contracts and preferential rates
- Maintain accurate records (cargo, fuel usage, distance, hours of service)
- Organize and maintain inventory and shipping documentation
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or fleet management
- Strong knowledge of freight, trucking, and regulatory compliance
- Valid driver's licence
- Proven experience managing large teams and workloads
