The Faculty of Business at the University of Prince Edward Island has openings for sessional instructors in the Summer 2026 semester. Full-time and term contract Faculty Members are encouraged to apply and may be considered if there are no members of the Sessional Roster who have Right of Recall or have applied for the position and have met the qualifications. These positions are subject to final budgetary approval.

UNDERGRADUATE TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES:
BUS Human Resource Management
First Summer Session May 11-June 18, 2026, T/TH 5:30-8:15 pm
Human Resource Management (HRM) has become a strategic function for both private and public organizations. This course provides an introduction to the conceptual and practical aspects of HRM. It focuses on the personnel processes involved in the procurement, development, and maintenance of human resources, such as staffing, training, and compensation. The course also includes a critical examination of current personnel issues and trends.
BUS : Digital Entrepreneurship
First Summer Session May 11-June 18, 2026, MW 5:30-8:15 pm
This course focuses on how to start an online business from idea to launch through hands-on learning. Students develop and test digital venture concepts, evaluate markets, and gain practical experience with e-commerce platforms, payments, digital marketing, and scaling strategies used in online entrepreneurship.
BUS : Business Ethics
Second Summer Session - June 29-Aug 6, 2026, T/TH 5:30-8:15 pm
Students explore ethical issues specific to business, industry, and professional conduct. Topics range from corporate responsibilities, product and worker safety, ethnic sensitivity, sexual harassment, advertising, insider trades, and environmental stewardship. Students become familiar with the ethical issues regarding business and are equipped with the conceptual tools necessary to respond to moral conflicts sensitively and responsibly.
BUS Corporate Finance
Second Summer Session - June 29-Aug 6 2026, MW 5:30-8:15 pm
Finance is concerned with the planning, acquisition, and utilization of funds. The major topics discussed in this course include the time value of money, analysis of financial projections, of financial markets, sources of corporate financing, cost of capital, capital budgeting, and working capital management.
GRADUATE TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES:
BUS-7950: Global Issues & Challenges in a VUCA World
May 4-25, 2026, MWF 9:00 am-12:50 pm
This course employs the VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) framework to help students understand how some of the major challenges facing the world today are affecting (or will soon affect) businesses globally. Topics covered include international trade and supply and value chains; food security; migration, poverty, and social unrest; sustainability and climate change; technological innovation and disruption; and cyber security. By emphasizing the interconnectedness of these economic, geopolitical, environmental, and social issues, this course aims to prepare students for future leadership positions in our VUCA world. The course brings in renowned guest speakers and relies heavily on in-class discussions and idea sharing to encourage students to think about and engage with today's most pressing global issues.
Qualifications for teaching undergraduate courses:
Successful applicants will have a minimum of a Master's level degree, along with demonstrated expertise in the course subject or equivalent, with a combination of qualifications and experience. Priority will be given to applicants with a relevant PhD.
Qualifications for teaching graduate courses:
For an MBA course, we seek applicants with a strong combination of qualifications and experience. Minimum educational credentials include a PhD and/or a Master's degree in a relevant discipline. In addition, advanced senior management experience in the course topic is preferred and is a requirement for applicants without a PhD. Prior teaching experience, particularly on topics covered in the relevant course, will be considered an asset.
Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Faculty of Business Sessional Roster and full-time and term contract Faculty Members of the Academic unit.
