Position Overview

The Distribution Operations Manager will oversee the efficient movement of products from suppliers to customers by managing warehouse operations, inventory, transportation logistics, and overall supply chain processes.

This role is ideal for someone who is:

  • Comfortable working extensively in Excel to create, analyze, and present reports
  • Eager to take initiative in creating and improving systems, and reporting tools that optimize performance and accuracy

Key Responsibilities Warehouse & Inventory Management

  • Oversee daily warehouse activities including receiving, storage, and order fulfillment.
  • Monitor and control inventory levels to balance consumer demand and cost efficiency.
  • Build and maintain Excel-based inventory tracking and aging reports to ensure stock accuracy.
  • Implement and refine processes for streamlined product storage and fulfillment, supported by clear reporting and metrics.

Transportation & Logistics

  • Coordinate with carriers and logistics providers to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery.
  • Negotiate transportation contracts and track provider performance.
  • Develop and maintain shipment, freight-cost, and on-time delivery reports in Excel to monitor carrier performance.

Strategic Planning, Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Create PO's and coordinate with suppliers on goods.
  • Continuously communicate with management on the flow of goods and shipments.
  • Use Excel to consolidate data from multiple systems and create clear, usable reports and dashboards for leadership (e.g., KPIs, service levels, order accuracy, and cost metrics).
  • Analyze data to identify areas for operational improvement and adopt new technologies.
  • Standardize and document reporting templates so that performance can be easily tracked over time.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Communication with other departments
  • Delegate tasks, provide coaching, and foster a motivated, productive team.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce strict safety standards for handling products and operating equipment.
  • Ensure operational practices and documented reports support compliance with company policies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven leadership and management experience in distribution or logistics.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a drive for implementing new systems.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to solve problems and improve processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including (at minimum) VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, filters, basic formulas, and data validation.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining operational or financial reports (e.g., inventory reports, KPI dashboards, shipping and cost analyses).
  • Proficiency with operational and business software systems (e.g., WMS, ERP, TMS), and the ability to export data and transform it into actionable Excel reports.
  • Solid understanding of supply chain management and logistics best practices.
