Wage Scale: $25.80 – $27.11 per hour

Neecheewam Inc. has a Full-time Supervisor position available. This position is based on a 2-week rotating schedule at Eagle Warriors Healing Lodge which has a two-bed unit for male identified youth aged This facility is specific to Indigenous youth who have limited involvement with the justice system but have demonstrated behavior that indicate a need for additional structure and support. Young people at this unit may be assigned to a Probation Officer or an ISSP (Intensive Support and Supervision Program) Worker, in which case Eagle Warriors will work with the youth to meet their individual needs while remaining cognizant of legal requirements of the youth.

Neecheewam is a professionally staffed community-based organization designed to meet the unique and individual needs of Indigenous youth requiring safe care. Treatment and healing from an Indigenous perspective will be realized through The Seven Sacred Teachings, which honour the universal values shared by all First Nations.

Key Responsibilities:

ADMINISTRATION

· Review all relevant program documentation including but not limited to intakes, discharges, assessments, case notes, incident reports, and meeting minutes.

· Provide direct oversight to ensure in the collection of program statistics and feedback.

· Provide direct oversight to ensure in the upkeep up electronic client files.

· Develop shift schedule for full, part-time, and casual program staff.

· Ensure all shifts are staffed appropriately and arrange for extra coverage when necessary (and as approved)

· Schedule and participate in planning conferences as requested by Program Manager.

· Assist in the development of record keeping mechanisms with Program Manager and/or Assistant Executive Director.

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

· Responsible for providing orientation, regular supervision and mentorship to all staff members under their supervision.

· Assess training needs and facilitate training opportunities when available.

· Organize staff meetings on a regular basis, as required.

· Provide direct oversight to ensure staff are adhering and complying to Neecheewam policies and procedures, the Collective Agreement, Workplace Health and Safety, Manitoba Employment Standards as well as provincial licensing standards.

· Adhere to Child and Youth Care Workers Association of Manitoba Code of Ethics policies and processes.

· Be available on call in emergency situations and respond to crisis situations by personally covering shifts when necessary.

COMMUNICATION

· Attend management and program meetings to ensure information is shared between staff, program, and management to support effective program delivery.

· Promotes positive working relationships with various systems and collaterals including government and non organizations.

· Attend resident specific meetings with clinical team and outside collaterals as required (i.e. intake, discharge, transitional planning, etc.);

· Maintain open communication lines with program and staff, administration and others to establish close working relationships.

· Review and communicate youth care plans to team, and provide recommendations based on observations and feedback.

· Review and recommend program referrals in collaboration with multidisciplinary team.

· Report on relevant issues to agencies and government personnel as required (i.e. incident reports, etc.)

· Attend and arrange for regular house meetings with the youth to assess programming, make weekly recreation plans, and address any concerns.

LODGE DUTIES

· Responsible for day-to-day functioning of a nurturing, safe, therapeutic environment, including direct involvement with participants.

· Responsible for reporting issues or required maintenance to the Program Manager related to property, vehicles, building, yard, or other assets such as furniture/appliances.

· Review and document all serious incidents involving participants to Program Manager.

· Purchase furniture, appliances, and other household items, as directed by Program Manager.

· Follow procedures and routines related to health and safety of staff and residents in conjunction with Neecheewam Workplace Health and Safety Advisory group/committee.

· Conduct regular fire drills and regular inspections of the facility with a focus on fire extinguishers, fire escapes, smoke alarms, and locks and any other Workplace Health and safety related compliance issues.

· Review Emergency Plans with staff and update as needed.

· Ensure that first-aid kits are supplied and maintained.

· In collaboration with Program Manager ensure the maintenance of licensing standards and other appropriate program reporting systems.

· Assist with annual facility licensing review and inspection.

· Follow-up to licensing reviews as required and requested.

· Report and concerns related to licensing to the Program Manager and/or Assistant Executive Director.

· Ensure that the current facility license is displayed in the residence.

PROGRAMMING

· Responsible making recommendations to help delegate supports and resources.

· Facilitate Indigenous land-based programming to address mental health and addictions in collaboration with multidisciplinary clinical team.

· Ensure all residents are adequately supported by staffing team and outside supports (mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually);

· Build trusting relationships with participants and staff in a non-judgmental and non-threatening way.

· Attend and oversee program activities and group outings.

FINANCE

Responsible for hands-on management of program funds and budget in

communication with Program Manager.

· Distribute of funds as required (i.e. resident allowance, clothing, etc.);

· Purchase of all goods and items as required for the day-to-day functioning of the program (i.e. food, household items, etc.);

· Manage petty cash funds.

· Manage and submit the monthly mileage reports.

· Ensure the safety and security of all funds kept directly in the program.

· Provide recommendations regarding budgeting and funding issues to the Program Manager and/or Assistant Executive Director.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

· Assist with program evaluation and reporting results to the Program Manager, Assistant Executive Director, Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and collateral agencies as required.

· Continually upgrade skills and expertise relative to the job task and to the field.

· Participate in rotational on-call duties as required.

· Other duties as assigned from the Program Manager, Assistant Executive Director and/or Executive Director.

REQUIREDQUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

§ Grade 12 Diploma

§ Child and Youth Care Certificate or Diploma or

§ A combination of education and experience will be considered

§ Up to 2 years and experience working in a group home setting

§ Up to 2 years of Supervisory experience.

§ Valid Winnipeg Police Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check

§ Check and Prior Contact Check – all are required to be completed within

a 3-month period from current date

§ First Aid and CPR level C

§ Drivers Abstract

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Knowledge of sexually exploited children and youth

· Knowledge of the Indigenous Culture, intergenerational trauma

· Ability to process documentation (incident reports, daily logbooks)

· Ability to complete medication administration records forms

· Ability to assist the Program Manager and Human Resources with the recruitment and selection of new hires

WORKING CONDITIONS:
