Overview
This independent, diverse position is responsible for city property and liability management and maintaining the Freedom of Information (FOI) function for the City. The work involves performing negotiations with respect to leasing and rental of City properties (including if the City were the lessee), purchase, sale of land; point of contact and managing the City's claims, including designing strategies, systems and policies to minimize losses in the City; managing the City's property and liability insurance requirements. Addressing the City's FOI function, including handling requests made under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA)
You will be the point of contact within the City regarding reporting incidents, making a claim, including with ICBC when a vehicle is involved or with a customer regarding a property / insurance claim. You will be the point of contact within the City in handling land matters, should the City purchase or sell a property or an asset and follow through with the required Land Title requirements. And the point of contact in order to conduct all FOI requests, affiliated reporting, and completion and oversight of Privacy Impact Assessments for City functions as required.
Qualifications
- University degree in a relevant field, such as Law, and/or certification in Real Estate or Public Administration, plus three to five years of related experience.
- Extensive knowledge and experience working with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
- Possession of Canadian Risk Management (CRM) certification is desirable.
- Experience using a SharePoint platform.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Successfully pass a police information check.

- It is essential that you can handle highly confidential and sensitive information and respond with tact and diplomacy, and you are approachable and compassionate.
- You will demonstrate you can assess and ensure all statutory requirements under FIPPA are being met.
