Position Overview:

The Vice President of Engineering will lead the engineering organization with a strong focus on product development, innovation, and operational excellence. This role is responsible for setting the technical vision, managing a high-performing team, and ensuring timely delivery of scalable, high-quality products. The VP will collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing and Operations to align engineering initiatives with business objectives. Bilingual proficiency (English and French) is an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership & Vision

  2. Define and drive the technical vision and product roadmaps.

  3. Translate complex business requirements into scalable technical architectures and actionable engineering plans.
  4. Balance the need for rapid product delivery with long-term platform stability, security, and scalability.
  5. Identify emerging technologies and trends that could provide a competitive advantage.
  6. Work with Sales and Marketing on Make or Buy for emerging products.
  7. Working directly with Purchasing on both current and developing new supplier capabilities and leveraging their technology to deliver new products to market.

  8. Engineering & Product Execution

  9. Oversee the entire Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensuring high velocity and high quality.

  10. Implement and refine agile methodologies to optimize team performance.
  11. Manage technical debt effectively while continuing to ship new value to customers.
  12. Ensure rigorous testing, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines are in place.

  13. Team Building & Management

  14. Recruit, mentor, and retain top-tier talent across engineering and product disciplines.

  15. Foster a culture of safety, innovation, and accountability.
  16. Structure teams effectively to minimize silos and maximize cross-functional collaboration.
  17. Conduct performance reviews and create career growth paths for your direct reports.

  18. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  19. Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations and Purchasing to ensure product releases support go-to-market strategies.

  20. Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and investors effectively.
  21. Manage vendor relationships and software budgets.
  22. Define and execute the engineering strategy aligned with company goals
  23. Drive innovation and continuous improvement in product development processes
  24. Oversee end-to-end product development lifecycle, from concept to launch
  25. Ensure products meet quality, performance, cost, profitability standards
  26. Partner with Sales and Marketing to understand customer needs and identify solutions
  27. Work closely with Operations teams to assess manufacturability of new product offerings, technical challenges, leveraging internal capability
  28. Prepare business cases to prove out new concepts and ensure profitability ROI can be achieved
  29. Communicate technical vision and priorities to stakeholders.
  30. Manage engineering budgets, resource allocation, and vendor relationships
  31. May support operational projects if need arises

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including managing large teams
  • Track record of delivering innovative products on time and within budget
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a leadership capacity for Engineering or Product Development functions
  • Strong expertise in product development methodologies with the ability to adjust to meet competitive market pressures
  • Excellent people management and team-building skills

  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Bilingual (English and French)
