Reporting to the Coordinator of Communication Systems, the Supervisor of Communication Systems supports innovation and continuous improvement of the Communication Systems Branch service delivery and operation.
The supervisor supports and provides technical leadership to the team to enable effective service delivery for activities such as:
- the 24/7 support & maintenance of radio communication infrastructure.
- the 24/7 support includes business hour trouble request and after business hours support.
- the repair and support of radio hardware (mobiles, portables, consoles), antennas, base stations, & repeaters.
- providing support for client project implementation relating to radio electronic infrastructure.
The supervisor leads a high-performing team to enable effective service delivery for services provided at clients sites where any of the activities listed above could be carried out.
The supervisor supports the coordinator with strategic planning, financial management, and vendor relationship management for the branch. The supervisor actively collaborates with peers for collaborative service delivery to shared clients.
As the Supervisor of Communication Systems, your duties will include:
- Lead and develop high performing teams and people.
- Supervise the operation of radio communication systems
- Execute Communication Systems Project Implementation
- Execute Security protocols for IT Infrastructure
Your education and qualifications include:
Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology or related field. A combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Eligibility for Membership in CTTAM at the Electronic Technologist level is an asset.
Possession of a Manitoba Limited Specialized Trade Electrician's License class Voice Data Video (M-V) is an asset.
Experience leading, coaching, providing feedback, delegating, and developing people is desired.
Experience monitoring & mentoring staff.
Experience working with clients and delivering proven excellent service.
Five years experience in Communications Systems support.
Experience working with radio communication systems, radio hardware maintenance (mobiles, portables, consoles), antennas, base stations, and repeaters.
Experience with installing, configuring and supporting camera surveillance systems, public address systems and audio equipment.
Experience working alone and independently on all areas of responsibility as required during daytime or off-prime hours, including standby rotation for responding to mission-critical incidents.
Comprehensive knowledge of radio/computer/electronic communication infrastructure
Knowledge of basic computer network infrastructure, network technologies and internet protocols.
Excellent written communication skills including the ability to write politically sensitive and confidential material for all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain staff morale, foster, develop and maintain effective and positive working relationships with teams, partnerships and alliances.
Ability to create and promote a healthy and inclusive workplace culture.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to be flexible and responsive to changing priorities and circumstances as well as the ability to work on diverse projects simultaneously.

Conditions of employment:
- The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
- Ability and willingness to be on call 7x24 on a rotating basis.
- Candidates will be required to receive and maintain a Winnipeg Police Services Level 3 security clearance.
