YMCA Camping and Outdoor Education offers outdoor experiences that foster personal growth and build community.  After taking part in our programs, children and youth return home more confident, independent, and with new friendships. YMCA Camp Pine Crest is an overnight camp serving children, families, and organizations through naturally focused programs that embody the mission, vision, and outcomes of the YMCA. Camp Pine Crest is made up of 650 acres of Muskoka wilderness surrounded by 3 interconnected lakes with 8km of shoreline; has over 26km of hiking trails and 7,500 sq. ft. of dock and has 60 buildings.

F Class Drivers are a crucial part of the out-tripping program at camp, responsible for safely transporting participants and staff in fifteen-passenger vans with canoe trailers on routes ranging from short local drives to multi-day trips across provinces. The role involves coordinating schedules with program and facilities teams to ensure vehicle readiness and logistical support for trips. Drivers also contribute to the Out Tripping program's success by assisting with town runs, gear maintenance, and other operational tasks in the Outdoor Pursuits building.

In this role, you will:

  • Transport participants and staff with their equipment to the starting point and retrieve them when the out-trip is complete
  • Coordinate with the Out-Tripping Coordinator and Directors to ensure that all drives are properly scheduled and organized in advance of departure
  • Work with the Facilities Manager to ensure proper vehicle maintenance and readiness
  • Build and maintain relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and community partners
  • Act as a positive role model for all participants and fellow staff by embodying the values of the YMCA and following all camp guidelines, policies, procedures, and Ontario Camps Association standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

You bring:

  • Standard First Aid and CPR certification required
  • F-Class Driver's license or transferable equivalent required by the first day of employment and valid until at least the last day of the contract
  • Experience driving 15-passenger vans and trailers preferred
  • Demonstrated strong risk management skills, ability to plan ahead and be well prepared
  • Knowledge of canoe tripping, with knowledge of white-water canoeing considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt to change
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment to achieve optimal collective results
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with members, staff, and volunteers
  • Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to both inexperienced and seasoned staff
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays required
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and building a sense of belonging
