The Team
Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank's Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets businesses.

The Role
GBME is searching for Senior Technical Solutions Expert (FX Project Lead) to liaison between business stakeholders and internal engineering and architect teams, ensuring solutions are developed and delivered on time, efficiently and with high quality for various projects within GBME.

The successful candidate will have a results-oriented and curious mindset with strong technical skills. You will work closely with cross functional teams, including engineers, solutions architects, and business teams to develop and implement market leading solutions that are scalable and deliver excellence, and value to our business partners and customers.

Initial Project Overview
The
FX Modernization Project Lead
will spearhead the strategic transformation of the Foreign Exchange (FX) technology platform. This role is critical in delivering enhanced operational efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and building a scalable infrastructure to support global FX business growth.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

• Demonstrate an informed knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities.
• Ensure business specifications/requirements documentation is accurately prepared and comprehensive to support sizing/development efforts and as input to various project documentation.
• Develop and deliver Business Requirements Documents, Design Documents, Use Cases, and Process Models as required.
• Participate in the development of detailed project plans, the monitoring of progress against planned objectives, the financial review, and securing consensus and co-operation from users and senior management.
• Work closely across GBME technology teams during all stages of the system development life cycle and bridge the gap between business and technology sides of the solution.
• Liaising between the business community and the IT organization to provide technical solutions that meet user needs.
• Build relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues in Global regions.
• Support production issues and handle escalations during Release cycles as needed.
• Perform ad hoc work as needed

Skills
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

• 7+ years of experience in capital markets technology.
• Deep understanding of FX markets, trading platforms, and instruments including spot, forwards, swaps, and options.
• Familiarity with FX platforms such as Wall Street System (WSS-FX), Murex, or ION – nice to have.
• Experience working with traders, developers, compliance teams, and senior stakeholders
• Minimum 5 years working knowledge of databases such as SQL Server, with ability to create and run queries independently.
• Experience working with all phases of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
• Proficient with Unix Tools, shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python, etc.), SQL queries, PL/SQL, and SQL Loader - or equivalent
• A recognized undergraduate degree or diploma in business administration, computer science or related field required.
