The Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN), or the T'exelcemc (people of WLFN) have belonged to the Secwepemc (or Shuswap) Nation for over 6500 years. Today, the WLFN community includes a growing population of over 800 registered members who live on reserve in Sugar Cane, in nearby Williams Lake, BC, and across the globe.

POSITION
School Bus Drivers are responsible for operating Little Chiefs Primary School bus, transporting students to and from school and related events, and ensuring the bus is maintained and operated in a safe and hygienic condition. The School Bus Driver must have excellent customer service skills as well as a cordial and friendly approach and feel comfortable working with children. The Bus Driver may be scheduled to work extra hours to transport students and staff on occasional field trips. This is an on-call position and will report to Little Chiefs Primary School Lead Teacher.

Education Required
- High School Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Class 2 or 4.
- Air brake.
Experience Required
- One year of bus driving experience.
Overtime Status
Non-exempt.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- The on-call bus driver is required to ensure that the binder is available on the school bus which includes Supervisors contact information if an emergency occurs, bus policy, students' emergency contact information, staff contact information if student is from another First Nation Community, and provincial health order restrictions.
- Transports students to and from school and on school trips as scheduled.
- Operates vehicles safely, obeys all traffic laws, regulations, and rules of conduct.
- Maintain order, safety, and security on the bus always with tact and diplomacy.
- Perform pre-trip inspection prior to departure and takes any action necessary to fix deficiencies.
- Sweeps and cleans bus interior daily.
- Keeps all gauges, instruments, and mirrors clean and usable.
- Repairs and/or reports of mechanical failures.
- Reports accidents or incidents to supervisor immediately.
- Ensures children can safely cross the road when exiting the bus.
- Supports the mission, vision, and values of Williams Lake First Nation.
- Contributes to the WLFN's ongoing success by accomplishing other duties as required or assigned.
