Description:
This role will oversee the Continuous Improvement and Process Optimization accountabilities of the Capital Delivery Model (CDM) Centre of Excellence within Capital Portfolio Delivery. These accountabilities include: maintaining existing documentation, ongoing enhancements to the Project Delivery Model, and day-to-day support across the company on all matters relating to Project Delivery Model processes.
General Accountabilities:
- Supervise staff engaged in the sustainment of the capital delivery model processes, including process optimization and process adherence
- Plan, schedule, organize and assign work to ensure that quality and accuracy of work is maintained and on schedule.
- Provide advice, guidance, and direction to staff in the resolution of work-related problems, as well as provide clear expectations and performance measures.
- Provide leadership through demonstration and response to staff requirements to achieve targets, plans, strategies, and quality objectives to deliver service levels.
- Provide oversight on external management consultants that are engaged in the delivery of continuous improvement enhancements and ensure that quality and timeliness of work is maintained.
- Make effective recommendations on human resource issues, including career coaching, promotions, transfers, pay, hiring, and disciplinary action, etc.
- Provide advice and guidance to all levels of the organization on how to best apply the capital delivery model to different types of projects.
- Define objectives, perform tasks, and produce deliverables critical to the support and success of the project delivery model and its underlying processes and practices.
- Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and strategies as it relates to capital project delivery.
- Reporting regularly on the status of the continuous improvement roadmap and the adoption of the project delivery model.
- Assess staff capability to do the required work and provide appropriate coaching and guidance to enable growth over time.
- Conduct personal effectiveness reviews of subordinates to build relationships and trust, and to improve effectiveness.
- Set an effective framework of policies and procedures for the work of the unit.
- Know and ensure own and subordinates' compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, and all corporate policies and procedures, and generally accepted practices relating to the work of the unit.
- Establish a two-way working relationship with subordinates to solicit their views on conditions and potential changes affecting their work, and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a highly engaged, diverse team that is focused on safely and effectively supporting the delivery of the capital work program.
- Perform other duties as required.
Selection Criteria:
- Requires a knowledge of business administration and project management processes and practices
- Requires knowledge of Transmission and Distribution systems
- Requires strong communication skills in order to lead a team effectively, negotiate with internal and external stakeholders, and report on the status of projects within the portfolio.
- Requires relevant experience in business process design.
- Requires relevant experience facilitating large meetings and building alignment with stakeholders on the desired outcome.
- Familiar with the practices and processes of capital project delivery
- Familiar with organizational change management concepts
- Manage multiple continuous improvement enhancements and effectively lead and facilitate teams consistent with the goals and philosophies of the division.
- Requires experience in handling concerns and dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
- Requires a strong customer service mindset.
- Requires strong communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization, from the working level to the executive leadership team.
- Requires experience in the coaching and mentoring of staff, experience in promoting and developing a strong culture of collaboration with staff and peers.
- Requires experience in carrying out the broad scope of administrative responsibilities associated with monitoring, coordinating, and controlling the work activities of staff.
