Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Taper to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying finishes to walls and ceilings, ensuring smooth surfaces and high-quality results. This role requires a strong understanding of construction painting, caulking, and blueprint reading, along with maintenance person experience. The Taper will work closely with other trades to contribute to the successful completion of various construction projects, primarily focusing on interior finishing.

Duties

  • Apply joint compound and tape to walls and ceilings to create smooth surfaces for painting or finishing
  • Perform caulking around windows, doors, and seams to ensure proper sealing and insulation
  • Read and interpret blueprints to accurately execute taping and finishing tasks according to project specifications
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for taping, sanding, and finishing work
  • Assist with carpentry tasks as needed, including minor repairs or adjustments
  • Maintain a clean work environment by organizing materials and disposing of debris properly
  • Collaborate with project managers, carpenters, painters, and other tradespeople to meet project deadlines and quality standards

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in construction painting, taping, or drywall finishing
  • Knowledge of construction processes and building codes
  • Carpentry skills and maintenance person experience are highly desirable
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
  • Good physical stamina with the ability to lift moderate loads and work in various positions for extended periods
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to work on-site at different locations as required
