Associate Merchant

We're looking for an analytical and experienced Associate Merchant to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Merchandising, you will be responsible for supporting the Merchandising team in driving the seasonal product strategy, execution, and in-season management across all sales channels (e.g., Retail Stores, E-commerce, Wholesale). This role is critical in translating market trends and financial goals into a compelling, consumer-focused product assortment and ensuring data integrity across our core operational and e-commerce platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Lifecycle Support: Assist in developing the seasonal line plan, including product selection, assortment architecture, and SKU count targets.
  • Channel Assortment Planning: Support the creation of channel-specific assortments (Retail, E-commerce, Wholesale) by identifying product needs and ensuring the right product depth and breadth to meet unique channel performance goals.
  • Data Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analysis of sales performance, competitive landscapes, market trends, and historical data to identify growth opportunities and inform assortment decisions.

  • Go-to-Market Support: Prepare and finalize all materials required for key Go-to-Market meetings, including presentation decks, product attribute sheets, and pricing guides.

  • Item Master Management: Own and maintain the Item Master List for all products, ensuring complete, accurate, and standardized data (SKU creation, product hierarchy, attributes, pricing) is established at the beginning of each season.

  • Data Validation: Conduct regular audits of product data across all platforms (NetSuite, Shopify) to identify and correct discrepancies, ensuring a single source of truth for all product information.

  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as a key liaison to the Marketing, E-commerce, Retail and Visual Merchandising teams to ensure product stories, features, and benefits are accurately and compellingly communicated across all customer touchpoints.

  • Design & Development: Coordinate with Design, Sourcing, and Production teams to monitor product development timelines and ensure on-time PO placement of the seasonal assortment.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum 2–4 years of experience in Merchandising, Buying, Inventory Planning, or an analytical role within a retail or direct-to-consumer (DTC) environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Retail Management, or a related discipline.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP) is mandatory. Demonstrated experience managing product data and attributes in an ERP system (e.g., NetSuite) and an e-commerce platform (e.g., Shopify) is highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex data sets, distill insights, and ensure accuracy in large volumes of transactional product data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and influence cross-functional partners.
  • A strong passion for the footwear industry and understanding of current market trends and consumer behaviour.
