Considerations Regarding This OpportunityThe relief roster will be used to fill vacancies in central region in the following location(s): Head of Jeddore.
Successful candidates will be placed on a call list in a ranked order corresponding with competition results and contacted as vacancies arise.
A relief employee is an employee who is not regularly scheduled by the Employer, but who works on relief assignments on an as-needed basis (mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends) as operational requirements demand. As such, a relief employee does not have guaranteed hours of work.
- Duties may require working irregularly scheduled hours, weekends, evenings and holidays.
- Must be willing to attend department training in duties related to this position.
Please note: With the agreement of the NSGEU Union, a successful seasonal employee currently employed with the Province will assume the status of "Temporary Relief" when placed on this relief roster. These employees will maintain temporary relief status for the duration of this roster and will not progress to term or permanent relief status.

As the Clerk 2, you will deliver essential support services to the public and district staff while providing exceptional customer service.
You will be responsible for operating the front desk which includes performing a variety of administrative duties (such as operating radio/telephones, data entry, processing mail, photocopying, scanning and faxing) and processing the sale of various hunting & fishing licenses and permits.
You will work as part of a team and perform in an efficient and effective manner. You will be responsible for complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, safety policies and programs and will providing OH&S program support. You will also support various wildlife activities including data collection and labelling of specimens. In the event of fire emergencies, you will receive, monitor and update incoming fire calls/reports and arrange for services as requested.
The Clerk 2 works under the direction of the Area Manager/District Supervisor or designate.
This may be the right opportunity for you if you have the following skills and experience:
• Three (3) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
• A Valid NS Class 5 driver's license or equivalent
• Valid (Standard) First Aid Certificate and WHMIS Training
• Working knowledge, and previous experience in computer use, including: internet, email and web-based applications.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
To be successful in this role, you must have previous cash handling and customer service experience. Discretion and ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information is required. You have strong interpersonal skills and are a team player. You have a proven ability to exercise sound judgement and set priorities and be able to efficiently work within deadlines with minimal supervision.
The following are considered assets:
• Completion of secretarial/office administration training
• Customer service training
• Knowledge of Natural Resources and Renewables policies and regulations and hunting and fishing license sales
• Experience and/or training in radio communication
• Knowledge of forest fire suppression activities
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety act and regulations
• Experience coordinating duties such as calendar management, data entry, and composing and editing correspondence

Pay Grade: CL 13
Salary Range: $ $25.11 Hourly
The salary rates include an economic adjustment that has been approved. These rates are effective April 1, Implementation in our HR system will occur on March 5, Until then, the current rates will apply. Employees hired during this period will receive retroactive pay adjustments in accordance with the applicable policies.
