The National Arts Centre (NAC) is Canada's bilingual, multi-disciplinary home for the performing arts. The NAC presents, creates, produces, and co-produces performing arts programming in various streams-the NAC Orchestra, Dance, English Theatre, French Theatre, Indigenous Theatre, and Popular Music and Variety-and nurtures the next generation of audiences and artists from across Canada. The NAC is located in the National Capital Region on the unceded territory of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation.

Executive Sous Chef
Key Activities
Reporting to the Executive Sous Chef and taking direction from the Chef de Partie or their designated representative, the First Assistant is responsible for assisting the kitchen staff in the preparation and service of food. Duties include but are not limited to: preparing and transporting food as well as ensuring work areas are sanitized.
Skill Requirements
- Completion of a recognized diploma in culinary training;
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in a similar position;
- Knowledge of proper food handling techniques, packaging and storing;
- Knowledge of the use and proper handling of all machinery and equipment;
- Ability to work under pressure in a very busy environment;
- Flexibility and availability to work within an irregular schedule including evenings and weekends;
- Proven ability to work all stations in a restaurant (hot and cold kitchens);
- Ability to read and understand banquet event orders;
- Physical work will be required;
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis;
- Must be able to push/pull carts weighing up to 100lbs;
- Must be able to stand & exert well-paced mobility for up to 12 hours;
- Bilingual in both official languages is an asset;
- Reliable;
A past record of satisfactory attendance and punctuality is a requirement.*
