Job Summary
First Student is seeking a reliable and organized
Dispatcher
to join our Ottawa team. The Dispatcher plays a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and timely transportation services by coordinating driver assignments, managing route changes, and responding to operational needs.

This individual must be bilingual (English/French) to effectively communicate with schools, parents, and drivers.
Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily driver assignments and route coverage.
  • Monitor radio and GPS systems to track vehicle locations and respond to incidents.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, maintenance staff, and management.
  • Handle last-minute changes, absences, and emergencies with professionalism.
  • Maintain accurate records of routes, incidents, and driver attendance.
  • Support driver check-in/check-out procedures and ensure compliance with schedules.
  • Assist with customer inquiries and service requests.
  • Collaborate with the Location Manager to improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education is an asset.
  • Previous experience in dispatch, transportation, or logistics preferred.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and dispatch software.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is required for this role.
