Who We Are
At Kyndryl, we design, build, manage and modernize the mission-critical technology systems that the world depends on every day. So why work at Kyndryl? We are always moving forward – always pushing ourselves to go further in our efforts to build a more equitable, inclusive world for our employees, our customers and our communities.
The Role
Your Role
Infrastructure Specialists at Kyndryl are project-based subject matter experts in all things infrastructure – good at providing analysis, documenting and diagraming work for hand-off, offering timely solutions, and generally "figuring it out." This is a hands-on role where your feel for the interaction between a system and its environment will be invaluable to every one of your customers.
There are two halves to this role: First, contributing to current projects where you analyze problems and tech issues, offer solutions, and test, modify, automate, and integrate systems. And second, long-range strategic planning of IT infrastructure and operational execution. This role isn't specific to any one platform, so you'll need a good feel for all of them. And because of this, you'll experience variety and growth at Kyndryl that you won't find anywhere else.
You'll be involved early to offer solutions, help decide whether something can be done, and identify the technical and timeline risks up front. This means dealing with both customer expectations and internal challenges – in other words, there are plenty of opportunities to make a difference, and a lot of people will witness your contributions. In fact, a frequent sign of success for our Infrastructure Specialists is when customers come back to us and ask for the same person by name. That's the kind of impact you can have
This is a project-based role where you'll enjoy deep involvement throughout the lifespan of a project, as well as the chance to work closely with Architects, Technicians, and PMs. Whatever your current level of tech savvy or where you want your career to lead, you'll find the right opportunities and a buddy to support your growth. Boredom? Trust us, that won't be an issue.
Your Future at Kyndryl
There are lots of opportunities to gain certification and qualifications on the job, and you'll continuously grow as a Cloud Hyperscaler. Many of our Infrastructure Specialists are on a path toward becoming either an Architect or Distinguished Engineer, and there are opportunities at every skill level to grow in either of these directions.
Who You Are
You're good at what you do and possess the required experience to prove it. However, equally as important – you have a growth mindset; keen to drive your own personal and professional development. You are customer-focused – someone who prioritizes customer success in their work. And finally, you're open and borderless – naturally inclusive in how you work with others.
Your Role and Impact
As a Lead Infrastructure Specialist at Kyndryl, you'll be a hands-on, project-based subject matter expert in infrastructure. You'll be the go-to person for solving complex technical challenges, documenting and diagramming solutions for seamless hand-offs, and delivering timely, high-impact outcomes. Your intuitive understanding of how systems interact with their environments will be instrumental in driving customer success.
In addition, you will oversee the deployment of the architectures you design, ensuring that key project milestones are met. You will guide and mentor a team of subject matter experts (SMEs) to keep the project on track and ensure successful delivery.
You will also collaborate closely with other teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment, share knowledge, and drive integrated solutions across the organization.
This role is designed for those who thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy deep involvement across the full lifecycle of infrastructure projects. Whether you're contributing to strategic planning or leading delivery teams, your work will be visible.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Contribution & Technical Analysis
- Engage early in project lifecycles to assess feasibility, identify risks, and shape technical direction.
- Analyse infrastructure challenges, propose solutions, and execute hands-on testing, automation, and integration.
- Collaborate with Architects, Subject Matter Experts, and Project Managers to ensure alignment and delivery excellence.
2. Strategic Planning & Operational Execution
- Drive long-term infrastructure strategy and execution across hybrid environments.
- Support platform growth and innovation across diverse customer landscapes.
- Influence architectural decisions and contribute to operational excellence.
3. Leadership & Delivery Oversight
- Lead teams of subject matter experts to execute architectural vision.
- Ensure timely, accurate documentation and efficient project delivery.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years in architecture or infrastructure leadership roles.
- Strong experience in designing complex infrastructure networks, including routing, switching, wireless, Data Center Networking, WAN, and SD-WAN technologies.
- Familiarity with key vendors such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, HPE-Aruba, and Arista.
- Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure deployment projects and managing dynamic teams of subject matter experts (SMEs).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for direct client interaction and technical leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expert-level certifications such as CCIE (Cisco) or equivalent for Aruba/Juniper
- Ability to create technical solutions and strategic roadmaps for enterprise, data centre, and software-defined networking environments (e.g., VMware).
- Security experience is considered a valuable asset, though not a core requirement.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing technical plans, blueprints, and models.
- Strong logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions and approaches.
- High level of precision in problem-solving and technical execution.
Understanding of a wide range of IT concepts, practices, and procedures.
