Your Role
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, you will serve as the reference point for electrical rolling stock and control software. You will oversee technical support for the Rolling Stock Maintenance (RSM) teams responsible for VIA Rail's legacy fleet, while guiding Technical Services (TS) to ensure:

  • Alignment with best practices
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Selection of optimal materials and processes
  • Definition and verification of technical requirements

Your leadership will be exercised through influence, fostering collaboration, transparency, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Expertise for Maintenance Teams

  • Provide advanced support for maintenance and product improvements related to electrical components and control software.
  • Diagnose complex failures and recommend sustainable solutions.

Strategic Advice and Technical Oversight

  • Supervise specialists and technical advisors, ensuring project alignment with VIA Rail's objectives.
  • Monitor the impact of changes to maintenance programs and recommend adjustments.

Quality and Compliance

  • Approve technical documents related to electrical work and software.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.

Representation and Communication

  • Act as an ambassador for Technical Services with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in strategic meetings, committees, and planning initiatives.

Innovation and Project Development

  • Contribute to defining new projects, drafting scopes of work, and conducting design reviews.
  • Identify and implement initiatives to improve efficiency and reliability of electrical systems.

Health and Safety

  • Support initiatives aimed at protecting our teams and operations.
  • Ensure project compliance with rail safety standards.

Leadership Through Influence

  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and transparent communication.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professionalism.

Requirements

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of experience in the rail industry (or similar sector).
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
  • Expertise in electrical components, control software, and related regulations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Bilingual (French and English).
