Kelowna BC VY Y, Canada Houghton & Co. Full time

Houghton & Co. is a small, established public practice accounting firm located in the Lower Mission area of Kelowna, BC. We are seeking an experienced Accounting Technician to join our firm on a full-time, permanent basis.

This role is intended for a self-sufficient professional with a strong background in public practice who can manage files independently and contribute immediately during peak periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of personal (T1) and corporate (T2) income tax returns
  • Preparation of compilation engagements and full working paper files using Caseware
  • Year-end file preparation, schedules, and reconciliations
  • Direct communication with clients to obtain information and resolve issues
  • General bookkeeping and review of client records as required
  • Assisting partners with tax compliance and other public practice matters

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant public practice accounting experience
  • No professional designation required
  • Strong proficiency with Caseware and Profile tax software (required)
  • Excellent computer skills and high attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and client communication skills
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize workload

Work Environment & Expectations

  • In-office position (no remote or hybrid option)
  • Office located in the Lower Mission area of Kelowna
  • Overtime hours are expected during tax season
  • Small-firm environment with hands-on responsibility and direct partner interaction

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $65,000 – $90,000 annually, depending on experience
