Position Summary

The
Manager, Software Development
is responsible for delivering new and/or enhanced application systems by leading and managing assigned Software Development teams.

The incumbent will have hands-on expertise in application architecture, analyzing business requirements, developing business applications, and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver effective technical solutions. This role focuses on execution, team leadership, and operational excellence within established organizational strategies and standards.

Position Functions :


• Manages one or more development teams, including Associates and Contractors/Consultants, providing performance feedback, coaching, and professional development.


• Leads, guides, and mentors team members to support successful project delivery and career growth.


• Lead and mentor a team of UI/Frontend developers, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence and significantly contribute to the development of world-class enterprise applications leveraging the latest technologies and software design patterns.


• Participates in staffing and recruitment efforts to build and maintain a high-performing development team.


• Define the UI/UX strategy, architecture, and best practices in alignment with the company's vision.


• Lead designer for scalable, re-usable front-end UI components


• Create, design, test and document UI components, experience patterns, and design tokens


• Consult various design engagements to ensure consistency across various experiences


• Develop and engineer front end solutions within an Agile software delivery team


• Architect, design, and implement scalable and high-performance Angular applications.


• Drive code reviews, debugging, testing, and performance optimization for all UI layers.


• Stay updated with the latest Angular versions and trends, implementing best practices and new features as needed.


• Addresses performance and conduct issues promptly and professionally.


• Works closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions with a strong customer-service focus.


• Keeps stakeholders informed of project status, risks, and delivery timelines.


• Oversees the support, maintenance, and enhancement of key business applications.


• Develops, maintains, and publishes required application and process documentation.


• Facilitates knowledge transfer within the development team and across IT groups.


• Applies disciplined project management practices; assigns tasks, manages resources, and supports delivery of projects on time and within budget.


• Supports initiatives to reduce and prevent technical debt.


• Ensures approved Sym-Tech / Amynta processes and procedures are followed within the team.


• Collaborates closely with IT Help Desk, DevOps, other IT teams, and business partners to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues efficiently.


• Identifies and escalates risks and supports compliance requirements to protect Sym-Tech, its clients, and assets.


• Ensures the security, integrity, reliability, and scalability of applications and systems under management.

Minimum Qualifications


• Sets clear expectations, goals, and KPIs for self and team.


• Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and manage technical team members.


• Acts as a key point of contact between the development team and business stakeholders.


• Working knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.


• Ability to manage resources and contribute to budget planning.


• Experience in the Insurance and/or Warranty industry, preferably Automotive-related, is an asset.


• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.


• 5+ years of application development management or technical leadership experience.


• 3+ years of people management experience.


• 8+ years of front-end/UI development experience.


• Experience in hiring key talent and setting up teams for success


• Proficiency with modern technology stacks, including but not limited to jQuery, Angular (8+), React, Vue, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, , SCSS, and Responsive Design.


• Experience building and maintaining complex design systems from scratch.


• Experience with Material Design and MUI


• Proficiency in UI/UX best practices and building highly interactive web applications.


• Strong understanding of frontend build tools (Webpack, Angular CLI, npm, yarn, gulp etc.) and version control systems like Git.


• Multiple years of experience with software engineering best practices (unit testing, automation, design patterns, peer review, etc.)


• Clear understanding of building horizontally scalable, highly available, highly resilient, and low latency applications


• Exposure to Security, Observability, and Monitoring tools (Azure Application Insights, Grafana Prometheus, Splunk, ELK, CloudWatch, etc.)


• Experience designing and working with Microsoft Azure cloud technologies and microservice architectures.


• Strong understanding of application development environments and operational support requirements for enterprise applications.


• Working knowledge of project management methodologies and tools (Agile/Scrum preferred).


• Experience collaborating with vendors and external partners.


• Exposure to mobile app development, either through React Native or native iOS/Android


• Certified Scrum Master designation considered an asset.


• Experience with PCMI's PCRS Policy Administration System software is beneficial.


• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics applications (NAV and CRM) is an asset
