Best Brains Learning Center is an enrichment program provider and our programs are designed to enrich children's overall academic development. Our teachers work with your child on a weekly basis in a low-student to teacher ratio and ensure your child receives the needed attention for him / her. Our teaching methodology is non-repetitive and aims to challenge students by introducing new concepts and skills each week. Our comprehensive program is one of it's kind and we do have fully structured curriculum and our teachers will follow it.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Best Brains of Scarborough , Morningside is seeking an enthusiastic and outgoing part-time coding instructor. This role is a part-time position with up to max 8 students at a time. Hours are the same every week.

Responsibilities

  1. Strong classroom management

  2. Knowledge of instructional strategies and assessment techniques.

  3. Complete programs prior to each session.

  4. Lead the class by directing students to complete the reading and coding activities.

  5. Observe students as they read and code.

  6. Ensure that the session content is completed in the allotted time.

  7. Remind students to remain on-task and eliminate possible distractions.

  8. Offer clarification and assistance when needed.

  9. Encourage students to debug and resolve coding troubles independently.

  10. Remain aware of students' stress levels during potentially stressful coding experiences.

  11. Fill out the progress book for every student following each session.

  12. Remain actively engaged with students throughout the entire session.

  13. Check in with students at designated teacher checks.

  14. Be available before and after classes to communicate with parents.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $ per hour

Expected hours: 9 per week

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver interactive coding lessons tailored to diverse student age groups and skill levels
  • Facilitate hands-on programming exercises that promote critical thinking and creativity
  • Provide clear explanations of coding concepts, algorithms, and best practices
  • Assess student progress through assignments, projects, and feedback sessions
  • Create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, questions, and collaboration
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and student achievements
  • Stay updated on the latest coding trends and educational tools to enhance lesson quality

Skills

  • Proven experience in teaching or tutoring coding or computer science concepts
  • Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Scratch
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex ideas for learners
  • Ability to motivate and engage students in a virtual or in-person setting
  • Experience working with university students or in academic environments is a plus
  • Organized with strong attention to detail in lesson planning and student assessment
  • Passionate about education, technology, and inspiring future programmers
