About the Team Lucent BioSciences is on a mission to accelerate sustainable agriculture by delivering crop nutrition that improve yield, soil health and sequesters carbon.
Job Overview  Reporting to the Research Agronomists, the Greenhouse Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the team at our SFU Greenhouses.
This position involves a variety of tasks that ensure a clean and organized environment for conducting experiments and caring for plants. The role is responsible for daily watering, fertilizer preparation, and tracking crop data.
This is a full time, permanent position based at Simon Fraser University, Burnaby BC. Candidates must have reliable transportation to and from SFU.
Please note: this is a physically demanding job with employees repeatedly lifting, carrying, and moving on all fours throughout their shift.
Qualifications
  • Keen interest in, or experience with, horticulture, agronomy, plant sciences or related fields.
  • Familiarity with basic plant growth principles and greenhouse operations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under very hot and humid greenhouse conditions. 
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to crouch, or crawl for extended periods of time.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
