St Clements ON, Canada Cabinet Effects Inc. Full time

About Us

Cabinet Effects is a full-service, design-driven custom cabinetry and millwork studio based in St. Clements, Ontario. We design, engineer, and manufacture high-quality custom kitchens, built-ins, and millwork projects with a high standard of craftsmanship and technical precision. As a growing company, we are expanding our engineering and drafting team to support increased project volume and ongoing investment in design technology and CNC-driven manufacturing.

We are looking for an experienced Designer / Engineer with strong Cabinet Vision expertise and a solid understanding of custom millwork construction. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, producing highly accurate drawings, and supporting a fast-paced custom woodworking environment.

Position Overview

The Designer / Engineer – Custom Cabinetry is responsible for preparing detailed Cabinet Vision drawings, engineering full project files, and supporting our senior engineering and production team. This includes creating shop drawings, machining-ready files, and manufacturing documentation used directly on the shop floor.

This is an internal engineering role — no client-facing meetings required — working closely with the owner, design team, and lead engineer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed custom cabinetry drawings using Cabinet Vision
  • Prepare engineering files, assemblies, cut lists, and shop drawings for CNC manufacturing
  • Draft accurate construction packages for kitchens, vanities, built-ins, and custom millwork
  • Support the lead engineer in preparing technical documentation for production
  • Ensure all drawings meet internal standards for accuracy, hardware rules, and machining requirements
  • Assist with optimization of Cabinet Vision libraries, materials, hardware, and parametric systems
  • Generate supporting files for engineering workflows, including S2M and CNC-ready outputs (if applicable)
  • Create or read supplemental 3D design files using SketchUp when required
  • Collaborate with production & design staff to resolve technical questions or drawing revisions
  • Maintain project accuracy through changes, updates, and coordination with the design team

Requirements (Required Skills)

  • 3–5+ years of Cabinet Vision experience (custom cabinetry or millwork environment)
  • Ability to prepare shop drawings for CNC manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of construction standards: frameless, face-frame, inset
  • Comfortable working with custom designs, non-standard sizes, and high-end millwork details
  • High attention to detail and strong technical accuracy
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work within a structured workflow
  • Full-time onsite availability (St. Clements, ON)

Preferred Qualifications

These are valuable but not mandatory:

  • Knowledge of parametric rules, machining standards, materials, and hardware libraries
  • Experience generating cut lists, G-code, or S2M output
  • Experience with WoodWOP or similar CNC programming systems
  • Background in cabinetmaking or millwork fabrication
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working with complex custom projects
  • Familiarity with SketchUp for conceptual and design support
