We are seeking a temporary Cloud BI Developer (1 year term) with strong Power BI expertise, including advanced DAX, Power Query, and DirectQuery optimization. The ideal candidate has experience delivering end-to-end solutions on Microsoft Fabric using Lakehouse and semantic models; contact center experience is considered an asset.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise business intelligence solutions that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will work closely with analysts, subject matter experts, and senior leaders to transform complex data into meaningful insights that support operational, financial, and workforce strategies.
This is a highly collaborative role that bridges business needs with technical execution, delivering trusted analytics products that track KPIs, surface trends, and identify opportunities for improvement.
What you'll do:
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain business intelligence solutions including dashboards, reports, data models, and semantic layers using Power BI and cloud-based platforms
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and scalable analytics solutions that support operational, financial, and workforce decision-making
- Build and optimize data models, DAX calculations, SQL queries, and Power BI datasets to deliver accurate, high-performing insights
- Ensure data quality, reliability, security, and performance through testing, validation, monitoring, and adherence to BI best practices
- Perform advanced and ad hoc analyses, including deep dives, trend analysis, and predictive or exploratory analytics; present findings to senior leadership
- Act as a subject matter expert for BI and analytics initiatives, supporting project planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Partner with stakeholders across Operations, Finance, Human Resources, and Technology to define KPIs, reporting needs, and improvement opportunities
- Support and enable BI end users through training, documentation, troubleshooting, and ongoing consultation
- Maintain and enhance the existing BI ecosystem, including continuous improvement of reports, dashboards, tools, and methodologies
- Contribute to documentation, knowledge management, and transition planning to ensure sustainable analytics operations
What you'll bring:
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline
- Five (5) years of experience in data-specific or business intelligence roles
- Extensive experience developing BI tools, including interactive dashboards, applications, and reports for business users
- Microsoft Azure certifications are a strong asset
- Advanced analytical thinking with the ability to translate raw data into clear, actionable insights
- Expert-level proficiency in Power BI, including advanced DAX calculations, Power Query, and row-level security
- Strong experience with MS SQL Server BI technologies including SSRS, T-SQL, MDX, and related tools
- Working knowledge of analytics platforms such as Power BI, Cognos, and Tableau
- Strong understanding of database design, operations, and optimization (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, flat-file storage)
- Experience with Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics, and Analysis Services
- Familiarity with cloud environments (Microsoft Azure preferred)
- Working knowledge of object-oriented programming (VB.NET or C# considered an asset)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
Security Requirements:
As a condition of employment at E-Comm, the required Police Security Clearance applicable to the position must be acquired and maintained. This is a process carried out by our law enforcement partner agencies, facilitated by E-Comm. The minimum residency in Canada to qualify for this position, as established by our law enforcement partner agencies, is 5 years.
To qualify for this process, a candidate may be either a Canadian Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen. We regret any candidates under Student, Visitor, or Work Visas are not eligible for consideration.
