Accounting Technician – Fixed Term Temporary (Tax Season)

Location: Richmond, BC (Unit Park Road, Richmond, B.C.)

This role is an on-site, in-person role at our Richmond Office (not hybrid or remote)

This role will be a full-time temporary role

THE ROLE

Our Richmond office is looking for an Accounting Technician - Temporary to join our accounting team starting on January 5, 2026 and terminating on May 30, 2026. This role is crucial to our operations and you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact from day one.

  • Assurance: Assist with the preparation of assurance engagements including but not limited to the following:

o Review engagements (CSRE 2400)

  • Accounting: Assist with the preparation of financial reporting including but not limited to the following:

o Compilation engagements (CSRS 4200)

o Financial forecasts and projections

o Budget forecasts

  • Bookkeeping: Accurately perform full-cycle bookkeeping on a periodic basis for all allocated client files. Tasks include but are not limited to:

o Liaise with clients and other third parties via phone, email and in person to obtain required documentation and information for bookkeeping

o Enter sales invoices, expense receipts and similar transactions in the client accounting system on a transaction by transaction basis with full detail in line with source documentation

o Record sales taxes on a transaction-by-transaction basis in line with source documentation

o Run payroll procedures in line with the client's payroll cycle

o Perform account reconciliations such as bank, credit card and loan reconciliations

o Post required manual journal entries at each period end

o Oversee and manage the chart of accounts, journal, general ledger, trial balance, accounts payable aging, accounts receivable aging and other reports and processes

o Prepare sales tax returns including GST/HST, PST, QST and RST returns

o Prepare the month-end reporting package for your supervisor's review and approval prior to circulation to the client

  • Taxation: Perform the following tax compliance work for all allocated client files:

o T1 personal tax returns for individuals

o T1 personal tax returns for sole proprietors

o T2 corporate tax returns for corporations and not-for-profit organizations

o T-slip preparation including T4, T4A, T5, etc.

o Preparation of sales tax returns including GST/HST, PST, QST and RST returns

  • Administrative: Perform administrative tasks related to client files including but not limited to the following:

o Preparation of client letters such as engagement letters, management representation letters and transmittal letters

o Maintaining up-to-date client profiles in the client management software as well as physical files

o Other administrative tasks as needed

  • Collaboration and Communication

o Effectively communicate with team members regarding progress updates and issues on a regular and ongoing basis

o Be proactive in managing file progress and communicating challenges

o Build positive working relationships with the firm's clients and staff and effectively respond to requests and suggestions

YOUR EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • You are a student enrolled in the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP)

  • You have completed a Canadian post-secondary degree or diploma program, with a focus or specialization in accounting or taxation

  • You have at least one full year of experience in an accounting or tax function anywhere in the world

  • You have at least one full tax season of experience with a Canadian CPA practice of any size while located in Canada

  • You have demonstrated experience interacting with clients directly

  • You are fluent in English, both verbal and written

  • You have experience using the following software:

o CaseWare Working Papers

o Tax Preparation Software

o QuickBooks Online

o MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • You have strong general computer skills

  • You display strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills with attention to detail

  • You exhibit a strong work initiative and the ability to adapt to new challenges and ideas

  • You are a hard worker with a willingness to continually learn and improve over time

  • You have a track record of being punctual with respect to scheduled work

  • You have a desire to provide outstanding client service and a commitment to teamwork
