Site Superintendent
to join our team in Vancouver, BC. We are looking for an energetic, passionate professional dedicated to building a long-term partnership with us. If you are forward-thinking and possess a solid background in 6+ storey construction management, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
As a leader on the upcoming 1-level UG RoC Parkade + 6-level above wood framing apartment job site, you will be crucial in ensuring the safety, quality, and timely execution of our projects. Your responsibilities will include:
- Site Operations Management:
Oversee day-to-day onsite operations, coordinating subtrades, manpower, materials, and equipment to ensure production targets are met efficiently and strictly in accordance with the master schedule. - Safety and Compliance:
Enforce strict adherence to all safety regulations, company procedures, and WorkSafeBC standards to maintain a zero-incident culture. - Schedule Management:
Monitor project progress against the schedule, develop one-week look-ahead, and proactively identify and avoid potential delays. - Reading and Interpreting Blueprints:
Accurately read and interpret drawings to direct the site works. - Team Leadership & Collaboration:
Work closely with the Project Manager (PM), Construction Safety Officer (CSO), and other on-site crew members to address issues and ensure seamless project execution. - Consultant Coordination:
Maintain contact with consultants to ensure the accuracy and currency of drawings, and provide reasonable suggestions for resolving any discrepancies between the drawings and actual construction work. - Quality Control:
Conduct regular site inspections to verify accuracy and maintain a high standard of quality. - Client & Site Coordination:
Represent the company at monthly meetings with the Owner or Owner's Representative, proactively communicating schedule updates, resolving interference issues, and ensuring our scope aligns with the master schedule. - Sub-trade Coordination:
Represent the company by organizing daily trade meetings. Manage and coordinate subcontractors to ensure seamless integration with the master schedule. - Documentation:
Maintain accurate daily site logs, timesheets, and safety documentation. Document all field directives and site instructions from the Owner, PM, or Consultants to ensure accurate tracking for Change Orders.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Relevant Experience:
Minimum 15 years of construction experience, specifically in mid-rise residential condo or apartment projects, with at least 5 years of management experience or the completion of 2 full projects in a Superintendent role. High-rise project management is an asset. - Construction Knowledge:
Strong understanding of construction principles, concrete formwork and pouring, rebar construction, MEP, finishing, and the ability to interpret complex technical drawings. - Leadership Skills:
Proven ability to lead crews, manage conflicts, and motivate teams to meet tight deadlines. - Communication:
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team and with clients. - Problem-Solving:
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure. - Computer Proficiency:
Experience with software such as Microsoft Office. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam is an asset. - Education:
A College Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering is preferred. - Driver's License:
A valid Class 5 Driver's License.
