The Opportunity
Corporate Facilities provides the City of Barrie with expertise in four key service areas: facility planning, design and construction; maintenance and property management, facility asset management and energy management. As a Centre of Excellence for a large and complex inventory of physical assets, the department comprises all the necessary functions and lines of business to ensure the full life-cycle management of the City of Barrie's facility and property portfolios.
Under the general guidance and direction of the Supervisor of Facilities – Public Services, the Facility Services Custodian position is responsible for the cleanliness and disinfection of the City's various facilities. Specifically, this position performs various cleaning duties and provides customer service to facility patrons. Overall, this position plays an integral role in maintaining City facilities to provide a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for staff, residents, and visitors of the City of Barrie.

Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
- Less than high school graduation or equivalent

Experience
- One (1) year of experience performing duties related to the major responsibilities
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
- Demonstrated ability to:
- exert effort to lift, push, pull or carry objects weighing up to 25kg
- exert effort to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, reaching, grasping, bending forward, stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or turning regularly
- perform repetitive physical tasks
- use of powered cleaning equipment such as swing machines, floor sweepers/scrubbers, power washers
- perform tasks with exposure to noise, cleaning chemicals, bio fluids and hazardous waste
- work independently with minimal supervision
- Intermediate skills include: Verbal Communication
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, or holidays

Other Important Information
Location: 161 Bradford Street, Barrie, Ontario
Hours: The normal hours of work are 35 hours per week in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
Wage: This position is within the CUPE Local 2380 Bargaining Unit with the following pay level and 202# pay range:
- Pay Level: Level 3
- Yearly Salary: $48,848.80 to $58,476.60
- Hourly Pay Rate: $26.84 to $32.13
