Victim Services Case Worker

The West Vancouver Police Department is looking to hire one (1) Casual Victim Services Case Worker to join our Victim Services Team.
Victim Services provides short-term support, assistance, information, and referrals to community resources to individuals who have been a victim of crime or affected by trauma within the District of West Vancouver.
Primary responsibilities for this role involve delivering front-line support services to victims, witnesses, and families in a wide range of incidents, including but not limited to; sudden deaths, fatal motor vehicle incidents, next-of-kin notifications, robberies, and assaults. Case Workers provide victims with information regarding available support, in addition to information relating to Victim Rights and the Criminal Justice System by way of office follow-up or on-scene attendance. This position may also be required to attend community or police events to help increase awareness of victim-related issues and resources.
A qualified applicant will have:
Completed grade 12 supplemented by a post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field plus a minimum of one year's related experience.
A valid class 5 BC driver's license with a safe driving history is required.
Preference will be given to applicants that have experience in a police environment, a victim services program, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The preferred applicant will also have knowledge of the criminal justice system and community services. The successful applicant will be a team player with a positive attitude who collaborates with others; can deal courteously, tactfully, and diplomatically with members of the public, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance, including a polygraph examination.
Position Status:
Compensation: Casual
$36.50/ per hour + 14% in lieu of benefits Hours of Work: On Call - Varied
