Our client is focused on creating an environment where everyone is empowered to make impactful decisions that support the company's goals. It's a company with a long-term view and a culture bias towards leadership over management, exception-based reporting, empowered people, and purposeful work. Their leaders are focused on their individual team members' success, in the belief that in the culmination of many successful people, they will have an extraordinarily successful organization.
Role Overview
We are seeking a technically skilled and field-oriented Mining Geologist to support mineral exploration, deposit modelling, and development planning across Northwestern Colorado. Northwestern Colorado offers a high quality of life with stunning natural beauty, year-round outdoor activities, and easy access to Aspen, Vail, Denver and other regional attractions, without the high cost of living. The area boasts excellent healthcare, strong community infrastructure, and convenient regional airports with direct flights to major cities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct geological mapping, sampling programs, and site evaluations to assess mineralization
- Contribute to the development and interpretation of geologic models using drilling and field data
- Support resource estimations, ore body delineation, and grade control strategies
- Collaborate with mining engineers and project managers to inform mine design and development planning
- Compile and analyze geological data for technical reporting, regulatory submissions, and internal planning
- Monitor and support exploration drilling programs with accurate core logging and lithological descriptions
- Maintain geologic databases and ensure data integrity across modeling and reporting workflows
- Stay informed on regional geology, stratigraphy, and mineral resource opportunities within key Colorado basins
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or Earth Sciences
- P.G. (Professional Geologist) license or eligibility strongly preferred
- 5+ years of experience in mineral exploration, mining geology, or geologic modeling
- Familiarity with the geology of the Piceance or similar mineral-rich formations
- Proficiency in geologic modelling and GIS software (e.g., Leapfrog, Surfer, ArcGIS, Datamine)
Key Competencies
- Mineral Exploration Expertise: Strong background in mineral deposit identification, geological mapping, and sampling strategies across a variety of ore types and terrains.
- Geological Modelling Proficiency: Skilled in using software such as Leapfrog, Surfer, or similar platforms to construct detailed 2D and 3D geological models for resource evaluation and planning.
- Core Logging and Lithological Interpretation: Proven ability to accurately log core and interpret lithologies to support resource delineation and geotechnical assessments.
- Resource Estimation & Grade Control: Experience supporting or conducting mineral resource estimations and contributing to grade control programs through data interpretation and modelling.
- Field Mapping and Structural Analysis: Expertise in geological fieldwork, including outcrop mapping, structural measurements, and integration of field data into exploration models.
- Western Colorado Basin Expertise: Familiarity with the geology, mineral potential, and stratigraphy of the Piceance or comparable regions is an asset.
- Data Management & Analysis: Ability to maintain geological databases, ensure data quality, and synthesize multiple data sources to inform decision-making.
- Effective Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to present complex geological findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Team Collaboration & Leadership: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, mentor junior staff, and contribute to a positive and performance-driven work culture.
- Regulatory & Environmental Awareness: Knowledge of permitting requirements, environmental standards, and best practices for responsible mineral exploration and development.
