The Opportunity

Quest Audio Visual is hiring a Full-time Audio Technical Advisor to serve as the company's internal expert on professional audio systems and technologies. As a core member of the Planning & Technical Services team, you will design, validate, and support all audio systems used across Quest's live productions, ensuring every show delivers clarity, coverage, reliability, and technical excellence.

This role is ideal for a senior audio professional who enjoys system design, mentoring others, solving complex technical challenges, and setting the technical standard for world-class live events.

The Role

  • Compensation: $65,000 - $85,000 Yearly
  • Benefits: Comprehensive health and dental benefits after successful completion of a 3-month probationary period.
  • Work Type: Full-time, in-person role located at our Toronto headquarters.
  • Start Date: ASAP – the position is currently open and ready to be filled.
  • Training and Integration: On-site training for this position.

Responsibilities and duties:

Technical Planning & System Design

  • Design complete audio systems and equipment packages for live events
  • Validate signal flow, RF coordination, and power requirements
  • Review floor plans, CAD drawings, and production schedules for technical accuracy
  • Recommend system upgrades and improvements using industry best practices

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

  • Serve as the primary internal specialist for all audio-related equipment issues
  • Provide pre-show validation and onsite technical support when required
  • Diagnose signal, networking, routing, PA, and RF performance issues
  • Create escalation paths and replacement strategies for equipment failures

Collaboration & Technical Advising

  • Work closely with Production Managers, Account Executives, and Warehouse teams to ensure flawless execution of audio systems
  • Support quoting and planning from a technical perspective
  • Mentor technicians and project managers on audio workflows and best practices
  • Assist sales teams by translating complex technical concepts into clear, client-ready solutions

Documentation & Reporting

  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including:
    • Signal flow diagrams
    • Power and rigging requirements
    • Show books and deployment plans
    • Post-event technical reports
  • Record all audio-related work using internal systems and tools

Innovation & Technology Tracking

  • Stay current on emerging audio technologies, formats, and broadcast standards
  • Evaluate new equipment and recommend workflow and inventory improvements
  • Develop strategies to optimize equipment utilization and technical excellence

The Candidate

Must-haves

  • 5+ years of experience in live event audio production or system design
  • Strong expertise in professional audio systems, consoles, PA systems, and RF technologies
  • Proficiency with SMAART or similar audio measurement software
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks
  • Strong understanding of digital audio networking and signal processing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools

Nice-to-Haves

  • Dante and/or Waves system experience
  • Diploma or formal education in audiovisual technologies
  • Experience mentoring or leading technical teams
  • Interest in advancing into senior technical leadership roles
