Division: Transportation and ConstructionDepartment: Roadways, Fleet and Support ServicesTerm: 1 Temporary Full Time position available for approximately 6 months.Closing Date: 11/04/2025Labour Group: CUPE 859Posting: 4695Job SummaryUnder supervision of the Operations Superintendent, this position operates various types of equipment.Duties & ResponsibilitiesOperates various types of equipment such as trucks, front-end loaders and motor graders in the Roadways section.Maintains and services equipment being operated.Assists with the training and instruction of proper operating and servicing procedures.Maintains appropriate service records.Assists with the servicing of equipment.Performs other related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation, Training And Experience RequirementsGrade 12 education.Five years' experience operating heavy construction equipment.Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 1A Driver's Licence.Current driver's abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid first aid certificate.Successful completion of, or ability to complete successfully, the core training module for heavy equipment operation.Successful completion of, or ability to complete successfully, the backhoe/ excavator training module to be eligible for certification.Knowledge, Abilities And SkillsKnowledge of the rules and regulations governing the safe and efficient operation of the equipment, and the uses and maintenance characteristics of the equipment.Knowledge of the methods, materials and parts used in repairing and servicing equipment.Ability to work with minimal supervision.Ability to observe and analyse the operating capability of other operators, and to instruct and train in the process involved.Ability to perform the services required to assist the mechanical or service staff.Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.Requires Security CheckAcceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC) upon offer of employment.Additional RequirementsWinter Weekend shiftWeekly Hours: 40Salary Range: $28.94 to $30.39 CAD per hour (2023 rates)Diversity, Equity and InclusionThe City of Saskatoon offers an inclusive workplace that embraces diverse backgrounds.
