About the Opportunity:

As a Civil Superintendent, you will be a key leader on-site, overseeing the execution of major sewer and watermain projects. You will be responsible for managing daily construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. Working closely with project managers, subcontractors, and field crews, you will provide leadership to ensure work is executed efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage construction activities on-site, ensuring compliance with contract specifications, industry best practices, and company standards.
  • Enforce strict safety protocols, ensuring all workers, including subcontractors, adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate daily documentation, including project reports, safety records, and equipment maintenance logs.
  • Uphold and enforce safety and quality-control policies to ensure high standards are met across all project phases.
  • Coordinate daily activities of construction crews, subcontractors, and suppliers, while maintaining positive working relationships with clients, unions, and stakeholders.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and drawings, assisting in pre-construction planning and scheduling to ensure efficient execution.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with design requirements, contract obligations, and construction standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers and coordinators to resolve design conflicts, unforeseen interferences, and technical challenges.
  • Plan workforce requirements and coordinate equipment, materials, and subcontractors to align with project schedules.
  • Participate in and, when necessary, lead project meetings with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to track project status and address concerns.
  • Work closely with project managers to review cost reports, identify inefficiencies, and implement corrective measures to stay within budget.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by senior management to support the successful execution of projects.
  • The primary objective of this role is to ensure construction projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • A diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, with a strong background in wet underground utilities, sewer and watermain.
  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe.
  • Proven experience leading construction crews and subcontractors in a superintendent or senior
  • foreperson role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, safety regulations, and project scheduling.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively coordinate with teams, clients, and

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as required.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada (no sponsorship available).
