About the Role
We are seeking an experienced
Mechanical Designer
to support the development of advanced ground support equipment and custom mechanical systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, enjoys taking ownership of design projects from concept to production, and excels at cross-functional collaboration. You will play a key role in driving technical innovation, improving design processes, and ensuring products meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle mechanical design projects—from initial concept through detailed design, validation, and production release.
- Create and maintain complex 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
- Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical documentation, and manufacturing instructions.
- Ensure all designs meet internal standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform engineering calculations and conduct FEA studies to validate design integrity.
- Manage CAD standards, material databases, templates, and design best practices.
- Support process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing design quality and efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with project management, manufacturing, and sales teams to translate customer needs into effective design solutions.
- Provide technical updates and recommendations to senior leadership throughout project lifecycle.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
- Perform additional related duties as required.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong technical foundation in mechanical design and manufacturing principles.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks and related engineering tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of aviation standards or ground support equipment is an asset.
Experience & Education
- 5–7 years of mechanical design experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Advanced credentials or professional engineering designation (preferred).
Work Environment & Requirements
- Split between office and manufacturing floor environments.
- Occasional lifting and required use of PPE.
- Standard daytime schedule.
- Ability to travel and hold a valid passport.
